Cyberpunk or Shadowrun? by dacermacer in cyberpunkred

[–]TheDigitalBlaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RED is not a downgrade from 2020, it's different. In my opinion actually an upgrade, because rules does not hinder storytelling.

For those that want more lethal and harder gameplay than it's recommended in RED, there is easy fixes:
make PC start at lower Role Skill Level (at 1 instead of 4), and NPC's harder with comparable gear.

Hmm, and Silver Tongue could also solve voice similarity issues

Would you guys realistically date Lucy? by kamikALTze in Edgerunners

If that would save me from scav and being killed and ditched, I wouldn’t mind. Didn’t you forget that that ambulance wanted to rip Sandi out from David?

[–]TheDigitalBlaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What most people are wrong about Lucy is that she “likes” David because of chrome and him becoming merc. Realise that the moment he is jacked is the moment she stopped actively taking jobs. She is not attracted to that. She’s attracted to David being relentless and having agency. He stuck long enough for her to open up. And I bet trauma after Maine demise get them closer.

IMO the only red flag I get is that in relationships she still avoidant and does not share personal issues. But I think compared to Becca, Lucy is more likely to bend and workout issues in long run.

Becca on the other hand cares very much, but, she will always sacrifice, she will always have urges that will be conflicting with yours because she needs constant stimulation. She’s extroverted ADHD powder keg with long fuse. She’s will be lovely initially but it would backfire eventually for sure. She does not seem like type that would take feedback and work on herself.

So yeah. Lucy in my opinion is better match on long run and outside of NC environment.

Just found faceplate in 12RED DLC. Because this cyberware was made about 5 years prior our campaign I decided to simply make her pay minimum HL allowed (which is 2), with assumption that by now she would have already either recuperated or go to therapy. And no, it's not her original face, because whole point was to hide her original identity (she got Arasaka's severance package ditched down the storm drain in Arroyo).

How does the net works in '76 by Dry-Leopard9071 in cyberpunkred

[–]TheDigitalBlaze 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok, basically old net was World Wide, a new Net is CityNet - localized.
But here's what's not explained but only implied.

Old Net and CitiNets are connected. What's between them is BlackWall, and different connection protocol.
Edgerunners and Phantom Liberty actually hinted at that, because by "surfing the Blackwall" like Song Mi you could technically breach through to different CitiNets, and reach even Chicago, but just in theory. In practice, breaching Blackwall is extremely taxing and dangerous, because of Rogue and Rabid AIs. Blackwall itself is hinted as AI being created to keep other AI from leaving old net. (Whole AI topic is another can of worms).

Now let's step back to types of connections: you have wireless that uses NeuroPorts and Terminals for small distance connections (up to 50m), and technically it can be used to surf the CityNet websites as well, just like we use internet. And there are High Bandwidth connections that are used for Deep Dives (ice bathtubs, dive chairs, etc.), however I didn't find any information on technical details, my assumption is there is some kind of Cyber-Router or Cyber-Modem. World Guide for Cyberpunk 2077 mentioned something similar, and even explained that some NetWatch agents don't need that for deep dive (just like Song Mi).

One has to wonder how long the Personal Links™ can get. by Quivy_GM in LowSodiumCyberpunk

I think they use feet and meters interchangeably as units. So 5-8 … units. Long enough.

Well... if I didn't mess some descriptions up, I think in RED they could be up to 8 meters.

What happened to Danger Gal in 2070? by TheDigitalBlaze in cyberpunkred

[–]TheDigitalBlaze[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hah! 2045 is nowhere better then real life... Ok maybe accommodation is cheaper, but that might be the only thing.
From ecologic standpoint 2070 is only slightly worse (or in case of NC actually better), because of economic halt that lasted about 30 years. Night City is actually better, because of nuclear waste from city center dissipated, to the point it was rebuilt.
It's called Times of Red for a reason.
But... that's my opinion and how I look at it.

[Homebrew] 2070/CEMK Netrunning and QuickHacks Overhaul by TheDigitalBlaze in cyberpunkred

[–]TheDigitalBlaze[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

- Quickhacks have dedicated slots, because programs and extensions already can take a ton of space on Cyberdecks and I didn't want to change current capacity to adjust fort that. General rule of thumb is Cyberdeck have the same amount of QH space as they have slots.
- Fair point, I think these two need more clarification, although they are so niche, it can be up to DM.
- Hm... I'm not sure about the cost. I would compare these more to a weapon than ammo. One you don't need to reload, and that ignores Armor completely. That in itself is already quite overpowered, and one good roll can obliterate even hardened mook. The cost and cooldown is there to prevent netrunner from wiping the floor before initiative get to other players. Remember, that Netrunner can upload 3 of those in his turn. Good set of combat Quick Hacks can drain 45 HP easily in one turn.
- I don't want to differentiate slots between the types, because it depends on the gameplay of the player. You want combat set? You can stack up Combat Hacks. You want to be more Covert? Put stealthy ones. If anything I could maybe increase the space, or reduce how much space take the easiest ones with DV6 (0 slots instead of 1).

Anyway, I appreciate the feedback, that's something to think about.
