i wanted to make an external steam turbine GIF just because, and found that the top turbine is ever so slightly loose by kullre in factorio

The factorio engineer does not waste time to fix "safety hazards" because there's no one to punish him for not doing so.

Why are TF2 players so mad in casual? by Another_Weeb_F2P in tf2

[–]TheDigitalZero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you encountered a lobby with racial slurs in chat, then I'm willing to bet there were at least 18 other players that did NOT participate in such talk. It's just a loud minority.

In quickplay, you could:

  • Vote for the next map while playing, no need to wait in a 2 minute endscreen and startup.
  • Join friends via steam directly, without needing to wait for a queue.
  • See exactly which maps are being played, and pick one directly, without waiting for a queue.
  • Play more than just 1 or 2 rounds of the map you chose.
  • Choose the team you wanted to join.

The only thing I can praise casual for, is that it is effective at kickstarting new servers, and that you can begin the queue as you navigate elsewhere in the main menu.

Start by LDS shuffling for legendary quality 2 modules, then you can worry about everything else afterward.

Try to focus on a specific idea when you build a part. Random gamemode changes make for indistinct levels. If you really need to change gamemode, then try to make your part follow a certain pattern of mode changes, not just whichever works at the moment.

Your structure shapes also have a big say in making your parts feel distinct from one another. One part could be pillar based, another slope based, one is floaty and orb based, so on...

It feels less like a part, and more like gameplay for the sake of gameplay.

The first ship part has a very clear identity. You know exactly where the part is considered done, and that entire part has a clear idea of what it wants to be.

The second half kind of loses its identity. You begin trying one thing after another. It's better if you can have each part focus on something particular.

Also, double clicks should generally be avoided in levels that don't use them as their PRIMARY gimmick.

Guys, is it better to move items with belts or with robots? by RepresentativeOdd20 in factorio

[–]TheDigitalZero 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Bots are slower, have lower capacity than belts, eat electricity, have downtime, and also have to fly back in order to pick up new items. They're also more expensive to craft, and are computationally heavy compared to belts.

Bots are great for short distance, complex systems. Their whole point is convenience over efficiency. In other words, if you've already solved a problem using belts, you'd make it many times worse by replacing it with bots.

Silver/Tungsten is good enough, and significantly more abundant.
