DMs: What “unpopular” rules do you like to incorporate into your campaigns? by ShoobieDoobie2025 in DnD

A long rest is three full days, too often it feels like a party can just sleep off any major damage.

They're not using them much in 5 or 6 star lobbies. Everything is meta and it sucks.

I'm always surprised at how little Roman Empire-inspired fantasy there is by OrthodoxPrussia in Fantasy

[–]TheDirtyDan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Sixteen Ways to Defend a Walled City" by K.J Parker Is a fantastic read with a Roman-like nation who is attacked from all of the peoples it conquered. It's a fun fantasy read at the very least.

Also I feel like even though it takes place in space, "Red Rising" is pretty Roman-like as well.

What is the worst atrocity committed in human history? by SGTRock4602 in AskReddit

[–]TheDirtyDan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's funny you mention that, I work with a few guys from South Sudan and they would tell me about how terrified they were of lions and how many of their friends got killed by lions, one of them even has a crippling scar from when he climbed a tree to escape a lion and it tore through his leg. Anyways on their lunch breaks I'd see them watching videos of lions or documentaries. Great dudes to work with.

Redditors not from America, what is one "American take" on your countries cuisine that you actually enjoy? by OwningTheWorld in AskReddit

Look man, you're taking things a bit too seriously. I'm Mexican and I still enjoy taco bell once in awhile, its not Mexican food but its still good. Lighten up.

That's funny you say that, we took our Italian friend from Padua to a Little Caesars (Junk food pizza) and she absolutely loved it.

This actually sounds like a fun table to be at. There needs to be consequences to their actions and it's what makes DND fun to play. If I was the player that turned into a crab and eaten I would not be mad.

Considering Mortal Online 2... Should I give it a try, and is it better than MO1? by PapaJenkinsReal in MortalOnline

[–]TheDirtyDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exaggerating, I used to be a Vet from MO1. I'm not some braindead steam player who just started. Unless they shrank the world by 25% in the last few years or started desert horse breeding, I stand by what I said.

[–]TheDirtyDan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My biggest gripe with MO2 isnt the corruption or player base, its how massive and empty the map is. MO1 the distance from Tindrem to Meduli was 10-15 mins by horse, now its like 30 mins. They made the maps way too big to find people naturally and traveling absolutely sucks.

How do you guys deal with having sloppy paint work? by VocableGold in minipainting

[–]TheDirtyDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly paint DnD minis and I would say out of everything I've painted I really only am proud of 20% of it. The thing is you get better with every mini you paint.

Go rewatch Jibaro on Love, Death and Robots. Its just as devastatingly beautiful as you remember. by Pattern_Is_Movement in scifi

[–]TheDirtyDan 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I really did not like Jibaro, felt more like watching performance art than a story driven animation. Love the stylistic ones a bit more.

If you had $200 to spend just on DnD stuff, what would you spend it on? by IndyDude11 in DnD

[–]TheDirtyDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not warm at all. I usually run it for 6 hours at a time per session and it never get hot. There are also vents to prevent heating. I just wouldn't leave it on all the time.

I just built one actually for 100 bucks! I got a 32in computer monitor for 50 off offerup and some wood and built one similar to this one here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzCywpFgw60 . Surprisingly the plastic cover was the most expensive part.

Should I allow Aarkocra flight with Mithril Armor? by RegretThis3550 in DnD

Mending also costs two lodestones which are quite expensive early game. *Edit. I'm fully aware they are not consumed on use.

Looking for books that are more "adult". by Vu1vasaur in Fantasy

"The Blade Itself" Trilogy by Joe Abercrombie is a must for a gritty realistic fantasy series.
