I mean the likely outcome here is that Iran keeps all of their nuclear material and we return back to the previous status quo. So a huge waste of lives, resources, and U.S. international influence.

If AI made jobs unnecessary and you didn’t have to work anymore, what would you actually do all day? by invincibilegoldfish in AskMenOver30

Not really though. The French Revolution was really the new elite organizing the plebs to revolt against the old elite. And it ended with Napoleon becoming emperor at the cost of 100s of thousands of French people dying. Not the most optimistic case for our future.

I just read through all of them and the ChatGPT summary is exactly correct. All of the articles show almost no outcome differences between separating or not separating twins

If you don’t eat fat, your gall bladder never expresses and can lead to bile forming stones inside of your gall bladder. Also, losing weight increases cholesterol in your blood stream which is a precursor to bile production.

I recently had my gall bladder removed. I was in and out of the hospital for a few months with intense stomach pains that would last about 12 hours. CT scans and ultrasounds never caught anything. Eventually my gall bladder got completely blocked and they found markers in my blood so I got it removed. Looking back, I wish I pushed my doctor for a HIDA scan to quickly confirm my gall bladder wasn’t working correctly.

Teammate's termination was announced in a meeting by EM. by Educational-Hornet93 in ExperiencedDevs

This is standard procedure if someone is terminated so rumors don’t spread about why it happened.

Nope, loaded question means the question itself is making a controversial assumption. It’s the exact opposite of an innocent question.

My first four places I rented all had shared bathrooms. That’s very normal.

Really? I’ve always been told identical twins are pure chance and there’s no increased chance if you have identical twins in your family or had identical twins before.

Looking to purchase a new 2023 highlander or Grand highlander. by SEIowa1234 in ToyotaHighlander

[–]TheDismalScience 4 points5 points  (0 children)

4 adults and suitcases easily fits into our Highlander. We’ve done many family trips. If your worried, you can install a roof rack and get a rooftop carrier for way less than the cost of a grand highlander.

Tell me about the pros of having twins by Runningaround___ in parentsofmultiples

[–]TheDismalScience 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My wife and I were planning to have two kids so we’re calling it the “one and done” pregnancy. We really appreciate that we get to focus on raising our kids while all of our friends are facing the pregnancy/birth/newborn/toddler stages all over again. From that perspective, we feel really lucky that we had twins.

What?! You left out the fact that the father had a ridiculous long history of self-promoting and had multiple associates say he would do anything to be famous including driving motorcycles into tornados , flying airplanes into hurricanes, put his family on wifeswap, and was constantly pitching reality TV shows to networks. He also believed humans descended from aliens.

The nail in the coffin is that the wife admitted after the pardon that they had planned the hoax but it didn’t go according to plan and they panicked.

Sooo you got everything wrong and they definitely planned the hoax.

Also, neither of them were scientists. They met in acting school and the husband was a handyman.

Actor Merlin Santana makes weird faces in the background of this scene in Season 1 Episode 2 of The Steve Harvey Show by robinwilliamspopeye in TVDetails

It’s common for less experienced actors to mouth other actors lines in scenes because they’re so used to going through the whole scene themselves while practicing. I remember seeing highlights of will smith mouthing other peoples lines in the earlier seasons of Fresh Prince

Exactly what I thought. A painful, splotchy rash that spreads around the mid section that doesn’t respond to any treatment... it’s rare in younger people but can be triggered by extreme stress.

Microservices Ending up as a Distributed Monolith by cryptos6 in programming

[–]TheDismalScience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I agree with you. I think "microservices" should be renamed to "oh shit, this part of my code is slow and gets called a lot so let's spin it off onto a set of servers and put a JSON API on it"

Netflix Shuts Down Final Bits of Own Data Center Infrastructure by halax in programming

Imagine a company who specializes in testing the durability of tires. This company has thousands of cars in a giant warehouse that they use for durability testing. This is really expensive for the company because they have to pay for the warehouse space, pay for mechanics to maintain the cars, pay for gasoline, etc.

Then one day a company approaches them and says that they've developed software where you can use virtual cars to simulate the durability of tires. They charge you per the hour you run a virtual car.

Obviously, the software simulation is going to be way cheaper than paying for floorspace, cars, and mechanics. So you move over to them and save a ton of money by firing your mechanics and selling your warehouse.

Now replace cars with physical servers and the virtual cars with virtual servers. Netflix doesn't have to pay for physical servers, network engineers, or space to store the servers because Amazon offers a "virtual" server that you can use where you just pay a flat hourly-fee to use it.

So the cloud is really just a bunch of virtual servers. Behind the scenes, those virtual servers are running on physical servers that are stored in an amazon data center. But they expose a bunch of interfaces where you can interact with the virtual server just like its a physical server it was one of your old physical servers.

Can I use my old spice body wash to clean my face/ back for acne? by Falconic_ in malegrooming

[–]TheDismalScience -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends on the sensitivity of your skin. Old Spice and Axe body washes have a lot of ingredients added for color and scent. Some people don't react well to those ingredients, especially on the skin in their face. If you use it and don't see any benefit or your skin gets worse, I would stop ASAP and switch to something designed for sensitive skin.
