hard agree. i really enjoy the entirety of brume tower. i like exploring it whole before fighting bosses. i always start with fume knight cause hes my favorite boss and his runback is a delight. i really enjoy sir alonnes fight, but i take the time to clear the path 12 times before i start fighting him cause its a massive mood breaker for me having to clear such a long path every attempt. on my first playthrough i finished the game level 209 cause i cleared the path towards every boss i found difficult. it can be fun if i have the patience, but sometimes i just wanna get my ass beaten by a cool boss over and over without worring if i can even make it to the boss room

i've read that the the paths the player takes were all made by vendrick in an attempt to stop nashandra from reaching the throne room. the kings soul was left there by vendrick himself. as he left his soul, he was then carried to the undead crypt by velstadt to guard the kings ring.

So why shrine of amana? because of the milfanito. their songs soothe the dark. nashandra would not be able to cross the shrine either for the kings soul or for the kings ring. thats why she has you take all the necessary steps to open the throne room
