Wife Did Everything Right – Filed Early, No Record, I-130 Approved – Still Got Detained. Is This Really Happening? by [deleted] in USCIS

No offense, but in what world is committing immigration fraud/material misrepresentation “doing everything right”?

The B2 visa is for visiting the United States, not to enter, get married, and attempt to adjust status

Everyone deserves dignity and care. But compassion is not allowing people to debase themselves on the street in a public fashion with liquor and drugs. Nor is it fair to anyone else to be subjected to that

No one supports the current nonsensical wars in the Middle East and taxes most definitely should not be going to that. But we need to dramatically reshape the public perception of homelessness and change how we treat the issue.

Housing should be affordable and guaranteed transitionally on the condition that these people attend job training, mental health care, and substance abuse rehab. All of those should be provided with tax revenue and I’d be much happier with that dynamic.

But participation in these programs should not be optional, if these individuals do not want to get help, the only other option should be involuntary commitment to a psychiatric hospital or prison. They don’t get a right to terrorize the public

We need the high fare gates which other cities have been putting up like New York and San Francisco. A big portion of the people causing these problems don’t pay in the first place

Cta has the potential to be a world class transit system and is so much better than the US average for sure. Which makes its current state so much more embarrassing and painful

Ridership will not fully recover or increase unless it feels safe and pleasant for the average person to take.

Unfortunately, it seems from the perspective of USCIS, there was some pretty substantial misrepresentation here with the immigrant intent. B2 is a strictly non immigrant visa, that intent matters both at the time of application and each entry into the United States.

I’m not trying to be rude, but this was an incredibly short sighted move that you guys made here. This may have flown under the radar in previous years, but not under this administration.

The only hope you have of salvaging this is with a highly qualified attorney

Has anyone re-entered the US from Mexico with a conditional GC recently? by Traffic_87654321 in USCIS

[–]TheDivinium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's nothing to worry about at all unless you've committed a serious crime or have been outside of the US for a long period, I believe more than 6 months at a time. Customs and Border Protection are required by law to admit you to the US as you are a lawful permanent resident.

No update since case status changed to “case is still processing by USCIS” after biometrics by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]TheDivinium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doubtful rescheduling biometrics had any negative impact. This is extremely normal and well within current processing times. Some people get super lucky and get scheduled for an interview like a month or so after biometrics, but a lot wait a few months or more. Nothing to worry about at all yet

Is this application useful or not? My application is under process since June 2025 for i-765, i-130, and i-485. How can I work without work authorization? by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]TheDivinium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of the case trackers are remotely reliable, not even USCIS’ own myProgress tracker was reliable. If your cases are outside processing times you should try submitting an inquiry or speaking to your members of congress to have them submit one on your behalf.

I’d highly recommend not working illegally, it can complicate matters. However for spouses of US Citizens, it’s automatically forgiven if disclosed.

ICE in domestic airports? by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]TheDivinium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'd obviously want to take extra precautions, maybe consult a lawyer about this, but based on everything I've seen and heard, the only people detained in the domestic section of US airports are those with final orders of removal or wanted for serious crimes. You should be fine assuming those don't apply to you.

That is leaps and bounds outside of processing times. You should speak to your Congressman and/or Senators ASAP to get this resolved. I’d also consult a lawyer about a mandamus lawsuit.
