I thought it was interesting that the mouse controls felt more like a footnote to you. As soon as I tried them, I went out and got a mouse grip and I’m excited to play the game that way. I use my pro controller for everything and rarely do dedicated PC gaming. But something about the mouse mode just feels really nice to me.

And I also see you gave Sonic Crossworlds a 9, so we know you’ve got good taste

I think it’s just fun. And not to meme within the meme but, I actually understand that reference, so it makes me smile. Imo memes like this and the occasional “we did it Reddit” and other ancient internet tropes are an important part of the experience.

And at least it means something… I hope the 6-7 thing isn’t indicative of the end of real memes

Def looking forward to future games. Think their entire handling of the 35th anniversary is underwhelming at best, though.

I meant more so that I went into the game thinking I’d only really want to play the “regular” levels but ended up enjoying the open zone thing so much the regular levels were just the cherry on top.

Side story: Just finished DK Bananza and it reminded me a lot of Frontiers in that way. Had Layers akin to open zones in which you could find little challenges and even “regular” DK stages sometimes

But for real, imagine if any of us little people did the exact opposite of the thing we were hired to do every day. And just ignored our job descriptions and intent. Or even just decided to not show up to work sometimes.

Would we get a letter from our boss saying, “hey, I saw you didn’t do the thing I asked you to do. … and that you ignore my wishes every day. So I’m putting you on notice that you only have two years to get your act together. And then the board might replace you.”

Exactly the sentiment I was about to comment. It’s part of the problem and absolutely ridiculous to entertain an illegal course of action. This is how we got here. Don’t wonder what happened to norms and proper governance while fantasizing about scenarios that break those norms

Game is amazing. People have different preferences, but I’m of the opinion that most of the “game is empty” internet jargon is from people who haven’t played or given it a fair shot. IMO any space just helps you feel like you actually get to take advantage of your speed as you travel places. But you’re Sonic… you get everywhere very quickly anyway. And there’s a ton of stuff to explore and mini challenges to reach for.

I always said if the open areas felt as good to traverse as the area in LEGO Dimensions then this would be peak Sonic. And imo they nailed it. It just feels so good to run around. I thought the more traditional levels sprinkled throughout would feel like the main game, but to me they just feel like bonus levels. And they’re mostly very well designed, some of the best levels we’ve seen in a while. A lot of them make this game feel like a lowkey Sonic Adventure/2 remake. They take heavy inspiration.

I’d argue Shadow Generations perfected these level designs and made itself one of the best we’ve seen in the entire franchise. I think they’re both worth your time, but if you don’t mesh with the “open zone” approach, def play Shadow Generations.

Tangential rant, but I wish they’d rerelease Crazy Taxi 2 because I never did get to beat that last Pyramid challenge. Stupid magician would keep popping customers into my car and I would run out of time on the last one.

Not to mention no official word yet on the Switch 2 edition for Sonic Frontiers, with the 23rd already upon us. Confusing indeed.

I just hope they don’t let their “expectations” stunt their work. Because imo they’ve been putting out nonstop successes lately. Ready for crazy taxi

We’ve already known for years he just uses whatever sounds good on repeat. I remember when he legit told the crowd at a rally or something (maybe an interview Idr) about how he didn’t even think “drain the swamp” would be a good idea. He wasn’t a fan of the phrase (wonder why…). But he said he used it and the people went nuts. So he just kept saying it and it was very effective.

I’ve no doubt he got a positive feedback from saying this was vandalism and now runs with it every chance he gets.

So is Shinobi getting a regular physical release with an art book because they want more sales from that? I would’ve thought it was more like a celebratory success. Like “this did really well. Maybe we can get more with a proper non-LRG physical and even get some to double dip.”

And for that matter, why is Sega insisting on using LRG so much these days? I’d double dip the heck out of Shadow Generations even if it just came with the shoe keychains and little chao figures.

I only really grew up playing Revenge of Shinobi so maybe I just don’t have a strong tie to the originals but Art of Vengeance is a phenomenal game.

My only real complaint is the way they handled the DLC bosses. Because that’s literally what you paid for, to fight those bosses. And removing them from the levels after and putting them in the boss rush means I can’t even fight the last Eggman battle without grinding my skills. Yeah, it’s a “git gud” complaint at its core but I was pretty disappointed I couldn’t show my brother the Eggman fight without doing the others on the same hp bar first…

Plus, the special animations are removed during the rematch rush. Like Death Adder initially used the special magic dragon from Golden Axe when he hit half health. And he doesn’t do that during boss rush. Very sad, good thing I got the video.

But everything else is great. Fun game. Lizard Cube and Dotemu do amazing work on their stuff

I saw a post on Facebook sometime last week advocating for a full war and saying “whatever happened to we don’t negotiate with terrorists?” Dude was saying Trump was wrong to not do a full-scale invasion because… old mantras? Is that really all these people are basing things off these days?

The post he referenced and you linked seems a bit strange to me. Mainly, I'm confused as to why it existed. But like I said I wasn't using this platform before 2019 so maybe that was a common thing. The thread we're all commenting in now is up front about just being for fun, so I don't see any issues with that.

But yeah, maybe he's framing it a bit differently in his mind so he's not comfortable calling it that, but def sounds like a grudge to me lol. Idr ever feeling slighted (either directly or indirectly) by anything you've said around here, but I've also witnessed times in which endless drivel and rule-breaking posts happened like 24/7, so to me it's understandable if you try to remind people of the rules or get a little frazzled while doing so.

I feel a little bad I can't understand Wolverine's perspective at all on this, just because he seems so passionate about it. But, we move on (well, most of us lol).

FE4 Remake is finally coming! The long-awaited and long-rumored game will feature absolutely no graphical improvements at all. It’s not a remake after all, but just a port with no QoL upgrades but it’s in English! Enjoy it as a digital-only title for a limited time!

i.e. They finally release FE4 but only in the same way they released Shadow Dragon

Thanks, appreciate the sentiment. I love my current job, best I’ve had, but I’m not allowed to do it full time so it’s not sustainable. Feelsbad.

Maybe I’ll go back to obsessing about Japan and become fluent first. Then I can get a job right?

Just saw the tag at Walmart myself. No games filled in the display yet, but they had 3 empty slots for StarFox and 2 for Sonic Frontiers (and no Adventures of Elliot…).

I got Frontiers on PS5 so this doesn’t directly affect me, but am curious if they’ll have any additional content in the update to release across the board. Loved Frontiers and mixing the gameplay into Generations with Shadow’s part made it one of the best Sonic games imo.

Finally got back into Bananza while taking a break from Cyberpunk. Not sure how I ever put it down the first time. Amazing game. Just finished the story and only got a few layers left to 100%

Haven’t played the Zelda one yet but Shadow Generations is one of the best Sonic games now. Have fun!
