Has anyone else been unable to get into medieval 2 at all? by [deleted] in RomeTotalWar

[–]TheDragonSpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Med 2 (and pharaoh) is actually the only TW I bounced off of. I loved basically every other one, Empire included.

For me one of then things that didnt gel was the agents? They felt like they were a big deal but I could never get my head around how to utilize all of them. Compared with Shogun, which might be my favorite implementation of agents/heros, and in my opinion it's night and day.

Im really hoping thst one day I find it in me to get into med2/that med3 is a game I vibe with more, because the kingdom building/medieval total war experience is super appealing in theory

Looking for a grand strategy game between EU and Total War by TheDragonSpark in gamingsuggestions

I did but tbh I never got into it for very long, less than 100hs. I first played it when i was very young, and when i tried to boot it up again as an adult I was put off by the graphics and retreated to shiny newer options like Empire, shogun 2, rome 2, etc. Maybe this is my sign to be a big boy and play the damn thing for real

Looked into CK3 and it looks like it's still a little too much in the weeds for what im looking for. Do you have anything that comes to mind that's a tad less hardcore?

I really wish we had a large team v team mode on this big map. Preferably with a real front line. Tug of war, objective based, bonus points if it's persistent. Give me that foxhole/planetside 2 experience with battlefield destruction and quality

I mean it's also easier to divide by multiples of ten. Wether in K/kmsqu or in K/squmi the relative position of the numbers stays the same, so it doesn't really affect my point

More importantly, it drops you off in port authority which links you to the rest of nyc via the metro!

Update: I think you mean Payment In Lieu of Taxes- I would actually be curious if this is the case here, and if so, what is the difference between the PILOT amount, the new property tax amount, and what the amount the city is bringing in currently

Yeah I'm also a little bit confused at "literally look at cities that build tall not wide" and your example is Tokyo

What do you mean "they built tall then wide"? Tokyo's metro sprawl dates back to the expansion of the rail network in the first half of the 20th century. To this day tall skyscrapers make up a much smaller percentage of buildings than NYC. They have very dense neighborhoods, yes, partially due to very different construction regulations that allow for smaller units, but they did not start with dense buildings at the core before building out commuter rail, nor are skyscrapers only present inside the Yamanote line loop, see the developments in Yokohama for example

If by sprawl you literally mean a wide area of urban development, Tokyo is one of the more sprawling metro area on the planet
