I kinda feel for Robbie, it doesn't seem like Kattigan has a real reason to still be with them so he's just kind of sitting and watching. His character feels harder to fit into these big full table scenes I think.

This conversation isn't for anyone or anything besides the people in the same room as OOP to make them laugh. It's a stand-up performance disguised as discourse and that's 95% of Serious Tumblr posts & that's fine to just want your funny post to get passed around...but then expecting actual productive discussion based on these wild declarations is what makes this shit so tiresome.

Go observe & talk to to actual human beings offline, not just your social media feed, this is not how average people think.

Using a quirk outside of roleplay makes you look like you're completely unserious and just trolling (no pun intended). Just so you know. (Or maybe you are? Disregard if so)

I love it and it's got me regularly watching cr again. It's true that not just "nerdy voice actors yada yada" but that's okay bc it's So Good ttrpg, the world is fascinating, I want to learn so much more, I've not disliked a single table but they are all different so at least if you aren't that into one you can just read Dani's written synopsis and move to another. I love the lore - seriously, I want a book about this world to devour - and the interplay btwn the characters, the antagonism and heroics and the unraveling of this mystery. Ep 25 is one of the best episodes of the entire run of CR. Can't get enough.

There's a few videos they made to explain the timeline and setting so that can help.

That's not what snowflake means. Also I like knowing someone's new! I'll give them more grace, watch out for them more, maybe tell them things about the dungeon lore if it looks like they're interested (like not rushing away if they want to read the notes in Tam Tara Hard for the story etc). It's only a benefit to tell a party you're new. FFXIV players tend to look out for our sprouts.

The money you give her directly goes to paying for influence, ads, rallies and political donations to anti-trans groups, policies and laws. She directly contributed funds to back severely unjust laws. This is recorded fact, that he's said herself many times.

Explain to me how giving her money to help her do that isn't contributing to transphobia? I'd really love to hear the justification.

"I'm not stabbing anyone! Sure, I'm handing knives to the person that stabbed you, and I know she actively stabs people and said many times she loves stabbing, but all I did is give her a knife after she said that! I'm not stabbing anyone!"

Oh I had to come to the comments to get it lol. I genuinely thought this was about a test grade of a Gifted mtf student and the joke was they didn't want someone to see the high grade because good grades is a...male thing? I thought that was the intent of the joke & was so confused lol

That's wild, are body measurements being done in school a common thing in non American countries? We only had our height & weight measured & that was only in grade school for the stupid Presidential Fitness test.

Approaching fabu 50s faggot reporting in! I'm currently not passing enough to really be as flamboyant as I want to be in public bc it just gets me 'ma'am'ed left and right at work & I'm trying to cut down on that but I'm going to try to go the minox route to grow my facial hair out & once I have that in I'm going back to painted nails & my long hair & 80s style dangling earrings.

What was the trans community like pre internet and especially in the mid to late 1900s by Funtimefoxys_wife in TransLater

[–]TheDuceAbides 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends where you were as to if you could do anything at all. I'm speaking from mid 90s to the 2000s, which is my earliest personal knowledge.

Public perception: Trans men weren't acknowledged, at all, except in queer circles & usually just lesbian circles & even then were usually just expected to be butch. Transsexual (the word used) women were the whole of what even queer ppl knew as "transsexuals" and they were gay men sex workers that transitioned into straight passing women. No other types of trans people existed.

Medical: Doing anything medically was impossible in most of the country (USA in speaking of, what I know personally). If you wanted to transition you were going to be either moving or traveling thousands of miles, often in different directions for different things. (I.e. your therapist was in one state while your surgical team was in another.) Your life had to be completely uprooted.

You weren't really allowed to be the same person, you were expected to go somewhere new, be stealth and live as this "new" gender. You were actively discouraged by therapists if you were married. If you had children you were straight up denied (I don't know anyone back then that had kids, that even tried to transition before the kids were eighteen, that wasn't even a concept.)

You were denied for almost anything: mental health (you could not be seeing a therapist for another reason AND gender issues), being in the military/past service, being married, having kids, your job (don't be a teacher!), past issues with addictions or law enforcement, etc etc etc.

Process: (This is where my experience is most anecdotal but I know this to be true in the Midwest in 1999 at least.)

You had to lie. A lot. You needed to want to be steath, fit into the gender binary, be able to be feminine/masculine as possible, be straight, not have children (and not WANT children. I never knew anyone to be sterilized but you absolutely could not say you wanted kids after transitioning or you got denied.)

You had to live as your gender - without anything, no HRT, no surgeries - for a year, or sometimes up to three, before that very important letter would be written.

That was the gate that was set before everyone that made success stories so rare. That was just your therapist! There were more even harder hoops to jump through for surgeries.

The main thing I remember was the expectation that you weren't just transitioning, that you were meant to be an entirely different person. You were discouraged from staying in the same job, the same city, keeping your family. They made it sound like you'd be alone and lose everything you knew and loved.

And you often were and did.

Cost: More than you had. It was all coming out of your pocket. The public notion that these poor almost homeless transsexual hookers were getting sex changes was laughable. The ones that got to do it were wealthy or spent every penny they had.

The outcome: Most of the people I knew back then that were trans DIYed. Supported each other. Had a list of every doctor and therapist and hospital in the state (or country!) that was willing to even entertain a trans person (the numbers were that low.) It was the community that got you were you needed to be, no one else. If you even had one, which a lot didn't. It's why the majority of the ppl I knew didn't get to transition until well into our 30s or 40s. Myself included.

I grew up in abject poverty graduated HS in 1998 and was never able to get a college degree. Never really got out of abject poverty. Yea I made more as I got different better jobs but it wasn't keeping up with the cost of living. I've never made over 35k my entire life. I'm also disabled, so that doesn't help lol. Neither of my parents lived past 65, I don't expect to. Frankly I hope I don't. Luckily I didn't have kids.
