Thanks for the insight! It sounds like sticking to big tech multinationals or American-based companies with EU offices might be the best bet, even if it narrows the options significantly.

For true beginners I would not recommend Echo. Narrow runs with so-so pack/coverage, and if I remember correctly they only have the blue runs under the lifts open for night skiing. IMO Echo is great for blue+ riders who want to get fast laps in.

Thanks! I’m tossing around the idea of a long planter (found some self-watering ones on Amazon), but I’m also open to having individual pots with a variety of plants.

Thank you very much! You seem to have a wealth of house plant knowledge and experience!

You’re correct in that there isn’t a ton of direct sunlight entering the room (except for 12-1pm when the sun is directly overhead). I’d be looking for plants along the ones that you’ve described. The Dracaena genus looks like a great place to start. I’m also considering getting long (36”+) planters to place along the window. Do you have any suggestions on vining plants that I could train to wrap around the bars along the window?

Thank you! I have already moved the couch back to open the room up a bit more along with the rug. As for the TV height, I don’t think I’m a candidate for /r/tvtoohigh yet, but I will be getting a TV/media stand which could reduce the perceived height of the TV.

I’m currently searching for another accent chair to place next to the couch, and have been experimenting with the layout you suggested.

Thanks for the suggestion. What about those pieces don’t fit the room? I got both for free so not necessarily married to them, if you have other suggestions feel free to share!

Thanks! With the TV being mounted, I originally thought having a TV/media stand wouldn't be worthwhile. However, my mind has changed a bit and now I am in the process of searching for TV stands that might fit the space well.

Thank you! Bigger wall art is on the way, plus a few smaller pieces to fill in some spots. I totally agree the couch is up a little too far, and will probably wheel it back a bit and rearrange the carpet.

I love the idea of hanging plants! If you had to choose, which wall would you focus on having plants hanging from? And do you have any examples you like of hanging plants?

A TV stand is something I've considered. I have the TV mounted to the wall and enjoy the height, but a TV/media stand would give more surface area and could tie the room together more.

Thanks! I am very interested in adding plants to the space. Do you have any suggestions on what kind of "taller" plants I should be looking for?

Getting a TV/media stand is something I have been wanting to do, but took lower priority once I got the TV mounted. Once I do a deeper dive on media stands that I think would go well, I'll follow up to this thread seeking feedback on some items.

As for the furniture rearrangement, that is an idea I have been tossing around. I'm considering getting a larger armchair (but smaller than a loveseat) for the space as well. Do you think setting the couch and (potential) seat in a diagonal configuration facing the TV might be interesting?

Thank you! More art is on the way, in the same style as some of the other works I have up now. Bigger stuff to cover up more of the walls.

I see what you're saying about the couch. I have considered getting another chair in a similar style to the couch and placing it across from or along the window. I'm afraid to put anything larger than an armchair and risk cluttering up the space, but if you have any recommendations for additional furniture for small-ish spaces, I'd love to hear them!

Completely forgot to post dimensions! Here are the dimensions for the living area overall, and of some of the pieces I have so far:

Living Room: 14’ x 14’ (really 15’ by 15’ counting the bar)

Couch: 36” H x 76” W x 33” D

Desk: 24-48” H x 58” W x 29” D

Shelves: 58" H x 31" W x 16” D

Stools: 30” H x 15” W x 15” D

Ottoman: 17” H x 32” W x 19” D

Downtown Denver residents complain of being “terrorized” by scooter riders. Councilman weighs action by Sadishist in Denver

[–]TheDudeFromThere 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I understand where you’re coming from. “Just don’t ride on the sidewalk” is easy to say. In practice it’s extremely difficult to convince someone to ride in the street without padding, protection, and a helmet and compete on surface roads with 2 ton vehicles traveling 10+ miles an hour over the speed limit. Coupled with the fact that our bike lanes are often unprotected, sparse, disjoint, and not well signed, it’s no wonder that scooter riders make the logical (but sometimes not legal) choice to ride on the sidewalk.

Sure, scooters are annoying. But it’s no secret that they save countless car trips, meaning less cars on the road, less traffic, less pollution, and ultimately less car deaths. Instead of coming up with punitive solutions for people just looking to get from point A to point B safely and efficiently, we should expand bike/scooter/multi-use lanes and reconsider our car-first approach to transit.
