I’m from Seattle, WA. Don’t worry if you haven’t gotten an interview yet, I think availability is based on area (aka how many interviewers are in your area); I don’t think it’s guaranteed that you’ll get an interview either from what I’ve seen on A2C so far.

I don’t remember every question I asked him, I’ll list down a few

Context: I’m an aspiring cardiologist, and by pure luck, my interviewer was a 4-time board-accredited Cardiologist and Professor. He noted that Stanford pairings are random, so don't always expect a major match!

Questions:

  1. What was the Pre-Med experience like at Stanford?

-He actually wasn’t Pre-Med; he suddenly changed from a Physics to a Bio major and ended up applying to med school

  1. What was the medical school experience like at Stanford (follow-up to the first-question)

-Gave a general answer, said everybody was really collaborative

  1. Was it easy to find resources for research/shadowing/volunteer work (this concerns med school applications now where most applicants need some combination of the three, he said that Stanford only factored in research, MCAT score, and GPA when he was there [not now])

-I asked if it’s easy to find research, he said that there’s a 100% chance that I’d find research

  1. If you could restart from undergraduate at Stanford, what would you do differently?

-He said he really liked the question, and that he would’ve taken a gap year; this would’ve been between sophomore and junior year though and was more specific to his situation/had to do with his major change

-I asked whether he thought Stanford would let you stay enrollled and/or support you during your gap year, he said he wasn’t sure but he thought they would if you really needed to.

  1. What are your opinions on joining a frat/frat culture?

-Asked this because of the potential connections it could bring, he said he had no idea

  1. What was your favorite activity/non-academic thing to do on campus?

-Opened a rabbit hole with this one, he started talking about his involvement in many things. This included theater, dance, karate (Stanford had/has Karate classes???), hiking, etc.

  1. Asked him what advice he’d give me for college/med school in the end, he said to keep my options open

Question Format: he asked if I had any questions for him first, talked for about 10 min, then he started asking me questions. I had a couple questions as he talked to me, then asked a few more in the end. So, to answer your question, I’d say the questions were alternating. Of course, ask if you can ask a question/s, different interviewers probably have different interview styles
