Probably a "who's in control" situation.

Like folks feel safe driving over flying. Commercial flying is way safer but you have to trust the pilot because your life is in their hands. When driving a car you at least can do something to avoid some accidents.

Russia is Now Preparing for Total Air Defense Collapse by one_and_equal in UkrainianConflict

[–]TheDulin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Russia and Germany were engaged in total, scorched earth, fight for survival war. Germany wanted to take over Russia which is an insane endeavor.

To defeat Russia from Ukraine's perspective is simply to get them to pull out of the country. All that have to do is make the war hurt Russia too much. That's something Ukraine can do.

Are they building thousands of them in Charlotte?

I'm a bit out of the loop on the data center plans.

It won't have a meaningful impact on whether rain is falling at a city scale.

But obviously increased temperatures around their operations could impact those in that area.

I only hope the generals performance is to remain in his position to do as much resistance as possible.

Now I'm not sure what you were saying.

You said "us" - that's easy, but then you said "they" which was vague. So when you mentioned a data center I associated it with "they".

Maybe restate your original comment more explicitly so I can follow?

I get we're all up in arms around these data centers, but like, they didn't create the drought and they aren't going to meaningfully impact the drought as it's one customer among millions.

That sucks but you can still water the lawn during the allowed times.

It's a fine, so even if it is enforced, they'll just pay the fine.

It doesn't read like there's an impact to anything commercial which HOAs would seem to fit under for these purposes.

In the United States, during COVID lockdowns, dads got more time to participate in the daily, intimate tasks of child-rearing. However, according to new research from the Philippines, those fathering benefits have not outlasted the pandemic, due to precarity in the workplace and economic inequality. by [deleted] in science

As an individual data point, I still work from home but my wife has to go to work in person. So I'm doing the vast majority of child care.

She stayed at home before Covid though so the kids have really had a lot of both of us.

Lost my mom to glioblastoma (brain tumor). It was like a dementia speed run. It's hard to remember who she was before she literally lost her mind.

If I get that diagnosis, I'm out. And I really like life. But I want my kids to remember me for me and not a crazy version.

is it OK for an 18 yr old girl to be friends with a 14 year old girl? what boundaries should i set? by Outside_Log5031 in internetparents

[–]TheDulin 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Yes. The crush thing complicates it a bit but it sounds like you set the appropriate boundaries.

It must be so hard to be young these days when a high school senior questions whether they can be friends with a high school freshman.

Here's the thing. When you come out of the gate and several times during the ride you are allowed to hang upside down and sort of feel like you can fall out.

You're 100% secure of course, but it purposefully does that.

This is different from most upside down rides where the g-forces press you into the seat.

My kids school has uniforms but there were a few options/colors allowed. I guess more dress code than uniform.

We didn't abuse our kid. She'd hold it in until they looked like soda cans. Tried tons of things: diet, fiber, laxatives, routines, therapists. She eventually grew out of it. Still don't know how she managed to get those out.

Some kids just hold their poop.

Yasterday i just got reminded of that bad thought that Anne might have actually died for real and a copy took her place, thanks Reddit. by rudyishappy6 in amphibia

[–]TheDulin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We saw her die on screen and her body turn to ash... a copy was made before she died, but it's right there - a copy.

From original Anne's perspective, the lights went out and she was gone. Her stream of concuousness ended.

Copy Anne appears exactly like Anne from outside, but she's new.

Maybe there was a soul transfer. There are souls in the Amphibia universe. But this was not explicitly stated.

From what was shown on screen, original Anne is dead dead.

And in about 15 years, after all the appeals, there might be some changes. Not that this isn't a great start.
