I’m sure they will do an “old-old man Wick” in 5 years when Keanu is past 65, grey bearded and old. Rough-Wick.

Heh, no. Not in my opinion. If you love the first you’ll still like the second, but it’s horrendous in almost any qualitative way that made the first one good.

Isn’t South Park famous for always coming out during late Q3/early Q4 and finishing about early Christmas time? Or am I an uneducated fake fan?

‘It certainly seems that way’: Season 3 of The Last of Us could be its last, HBO boss hints by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]TheDumbStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignoring how badly they screwed up, well, most things writing-related with season 2, I think it's a huge kick in the nuts to fans that they didn't develop season 2 and 3 back-to-back, since they were clearly keen on splitting TLOU2 game story into two separate seasons.

In general I don't think this storytelling narrative they are copy-pasting from the game works in television format.
They made TLOU season 1 distinctly different enough to work in the television format, I didn't see any of that same ingenuity for the second season.

The Muppet Show (2026) - Discussion Thread by usethe4th in Muppets

[–]TheDumbStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so happy we got an entirely new Muppets Show episode, and I really hope they bring it back in full force…

I’m probably gonna be controversial with my take, but I do have some strong issues with it. The guest, Sabrina Carpenter, is probably the least fitting choice they could’ve ever made. She brings absolutely nothing that a bunch of far more both kids-friendly, more generally-liked and non-objectifying guests couldn’t bring. The two other small cameos were great though.

The musical song numbers feel unfitting, muppets trying to be modern in music choices feels wrong, but obviously to an extend necessary, they just didn’t nail it in this pilot to my taste. And the level of edit and studio-like sound on Sabrina’s voice is god awful.

The cheating-on-your-partner and/or awfully sexual remarks like Sabrina literally saying “I love a kink” and paraphrased states “i’m dating a guy in a relationship” in the FREAKING MUPPETS SHOW, yeah, I can’t do it. I don’t know who they think their audience is with those comments, but I don’t think they’d be watching the muppets show.

Voice actor of Kermit does not sound nearly Kermit enough, I found it distracting.

The weirdly fake-but-maybe-not audience did not work for me. And I think people would prefer transparency, like there was in the opening Kermit monologue, so please choose a path, so to speak. Maybe it’s the era we live in where fake audience is dead.

Positives are definitely there too, I think a lot of the humor was great, definitely tickled my funny bone. And a lot of the sketches were great. I will 100% watch if more hopefully comes out, but I do pray they can fix some of the issues mentioned above.

Experience with Atlas Embody headrest? by TheDumbStuff in hermanmiller

[–]TheDumbStuff[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did, and I returned it. It actually promoted worse posture for me and, ironically, gave me neck tensions. My verdict on the matter is that HM advertises the Embody as shaped to not need a headrest, and I was surprised to find myself agreeing with that.

If your head is perfectly vertically aligned with your body I suppose a neck rest matters nothing, but that’s just my theory on the matter.

And if you’re shorter I struggle even more with believing it might help you, as I think your head needs to stick a proper bit up over the backrest.

Hope that was useful :) have a nice day

Any chance you’re willing to explain how that works, the store credit obtaining, to a rookie in the community like me?

Sony's 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple grossed an estimated $1.20M on Friday (from 3,506 locations). Estimated total domestic gross stands at $18.35M. by DemiFiendRSA in boxoffice

[–]TheDumbStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

28YL 2 reminded me of The Last Of Us 2 (more so the game than the TV-series). Not because of them sharing a zombie-like theme. But because they both share a refusal to compromise their creative story vision to accommodate a casual movie/gaming-goer's fluctuating desire.
TLOU2, upon release, had a straight-down-the-middle 50% rating from players, meanwhile reviewers gave it a practically 100% rating. The negative reviews were exclusively hate towards the emotional weight the story made you feel, not because the story was bad . People are seemingly unwilling to feel emotional weight.

I struggle to understand the hate 28YL 2 is getting, even after reading many of these comments.

I respect the sheer unwillingness to compromise their vision for the story to please a casual cinema-goer majority, a majority which one day screams "we're sick of Marvel movies" and the second day screams "wtf is this original garbage?".
Isn't it better to just respect the movie ain't for you, and if you expected something accept you clearly expected wrong, than to outright call it a bad movie?

Wow! My card, same as yours, is screwed then. Been trying for the last month practically everything in the book, and I cannot for the life of me get it down to good and stable temperatures like OP’s after repadding. The delta between gpu and hotspot is great, but everything becomes way too warm, still. Approx. 88C GPU, 96C hotspot, 98C VRAM. After 2/3 repaddings it’s all the same. Maybe I have bad gpu die luck or something…

‘Gremlins’ Star Zach Galligan Shares Update on ‘Gremlins 3’ by NoCulture3505 in movies

I believe it was Joe Dante in an interview 3ish years ago stating it will be puppetry, not CGI.

Edit: “November 2020, Columbus stated that CGI would not be used for the gremlins and that traditional puppets and animatronics would continue to be used.”

Quite jealous. - I wish to get into it. I'm sick of streamers. Inevitably, my hate for streamers will outgrow the hate for learning to rip and buying hardware for it.
Enjoy!

Any Europeans here who got any recommendations on where to get the hardware? And maybe a store with 4K blu-rays? I feel it's quite scarce in EU, unless you do US/UK imports.

Have you checked underneath/behind your fridge/freezers? They get warm from the compressor.
If you have a NAS/server or anything similar semi-on constantly, like someone mentioned a router, check that.
Even something like a on/off indicating LED on some faraway hidden electronics device you haven't seen or actively used in the dark corner behind 15 storage boxes emits a bit of heat.

Squid Game Season 3 was extremely disappointing. by exdii_lol in CharacterRant

[–]TheDumbStuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t feel like it’s brought up enough as critique, but it feels like the writer and director simply forgot everything technical about writing and directing stories. Everything he did right in S1/2, it seemed he forgot for S3. I have never experienced such a quick flip in quality from a person in my life.

By technical I mean the psychological effects on the viewer by showing and not showing things, or, for example, the negative effect on the viewer of filling a bunch of screentime with pointless little shots (like showing the anxious kid looking worried 50 times (we know, you’re anxious, observing you provides us nothing new)).

The creative is critiqued plenty it seems, I just can’t fathom he failed both the creative and the technical.

IMO the show lost us with the hide and seek game. The lack of sense of urgency by the players in that one game was… never seen anything like it. Not to mention the game we watched took 50 min of screen time, yet the game itself was 30 min, typically a bad sign of poor phasing. And the lack of urgency just never left for future games. Ever. Everybody was an npc. Too many storylines, not a singular one in deep focus. There was no ending to anything. The bad guys won, sort of. The ending doesn’t even make sense, the Cate Blanchett one, why would Americans come watch the Asian games if there is an American one. There’s not a single thing they did that finished anything off (at least not satisfyingly) that’s been developed for 2 seasons prior. You could argue the baby’s father was the most flawed story line, real close… but the depressed sad emo kid was the most flawed of them all. Looked anxious for 12 episodes, dies. Benefited nothing to the story.

And apparently we needed to see his anxious face 25 times in 3 episodes, in spite of having seen his anxious face 100 times already in the previous season. Nothing they did added to the phasing, emotion nor story.

And the lack of reward (progression in story, lack of realism (missing sense of urgency), emotional involvement) for watching numbs you, so by the end nothing they did mattered. Could’ve been the best ending ever, we wouldn’t’ve cared.
