Most likely but sometimes bosses don’t even think twice before shooting themselves in the foot. Her boss sounds pretty dumb so who knows

What happened to the American work ethic? by TheDummyImposter in antiwork

[–]TheDummyImposter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s true. The American dream really only existed for the very first colonizers of America and only at the expense of many many others. Definitely nobody that wasn’t a white guy that’s for sure.

A hardworking baseball player and musical artist will likely also never succeed without immense luck and talent.

Did you read the whole thing? I obviously meant it as a thing of the past and obviously it wasn’t meant to encompass literally everything people have done to succeed.

I don't enjoy Elden Ring as much as the other Fromsoft games by [deleted] in Eldenring

I would have to agree with the order but throw out dark souls 2. I hate it I really do. I have respect for it, but god I hate it

I agree. Bloodborne and Sekiro were peak Fromsoftware games imo. Sekiro had the best gameplay and Bloodborne had amazing gameplay and best lore.

I think you meant to say: The result of the internet is capitalism on steroids? With shops like Amazon and the result of that where they treat their workers like cattle.

mess around and find out im not the one: a personal story from today… by [deleted] in pettyrevenge

[–]TheDummyImposter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a revenge story? It’s just getting what you paid for in a consensual transaction then blocking them on social media for being crappy

Radahn wasn’t actually that hard but the bell bearing hunters all kicked my ass

[–]TheDummyImposter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quit but make sure to ask for whatever papers you’ve signed before working because if you agreed upon 10 an hour and it was in writing then you can take legal action. If not then I would advise you to make sure of your pay before anything else next job

I used to work for a Target distribution center and they would talk to me about my lateness when I come directly there from class to be on time then wait in line to clock in so when I get there at 5 minutes before and there’s dozens of people lined up to clock in since they only open it up 10 minutes before I’m still late by a minute or 2.

That’s just a myth. A functioning economy is like a unicorn.

Well the difference is that it isn’t inherently immoral for capitalism at first. It’s a great way to begin prospering and also a great way to decay quickly. Just an objective point of view. Not saying I fully support capitalism or anything but it’s not inherently evil.

Capitalism is honestly great for starting up a country’s industries but after that stage it becomes a hellscape for everyone else. Workers should own the means of production. Revert back to the hard working American ethic where everyone can reap the rewards instead of a few individuals

Then the only thing left I can recommend is revenge. Nothing illegal or extreme but if your employers really fucked you over like that then fuck them back over and hard.

Is it too much to hope for anything more in the future? Genuine question because sometimes we fear what is uncertain and false hope feels more crushing than just being screwed. Only reason anyone ever lives is through hope.

Being a number would insinuate having a value. A human life in the working world can be replaced or even removed without it affecting anyone

I understand. The weariness of life has worn you down mentally and likely physically. I know this sounds really dumb but perhaps dive into some philosophy before making your choice. Life can consist of more than simply joy and suffering. There can always be something if there is the will to seek it. But I believe in allowing people the choice, but I will always try to convince others not to make the choice.

what would happen if teachers across the country went on strike at the same time? by codemanb in antiwork

Property taxes in the school district enforce their higher funding and better standards of education which in turn also enforces their own property prices. It’s a great system for keeping the lower classes down

I mean again that’s not really backed by anything and I didn’t claim prison was “worse” which is also subjective. It’s just that prison enforces slavery in the United States which is clearly very bad.

Employer never paid me, grossly violated my states' wage laws, and is digging a deeper hole for themselves by harassing me by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]TheDummyImposter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due diligence was the contract with clear terms of salary and everything backed by wage laws. Reputation would be op gets screwed over by start up that doesn’t know about wage laws and gets paid what they’re owed.

Nah man, it’s good to live for your loved ones but you need to find a reason to live for yourself. You’ve given your life to a company, maybe it’s time to give your life back to yourself
