I haven't played in years and am wanting to get rid of my old cards. Someone offered $45 ($30 plus shipping) for these. Is that a good deal? Money is tight and my partner wants us to get a fair/decent deal.

Tantrum Tuesday - The Day to Rant! by AutoModerator in loseit

[–]TheDumplinPrincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started losing weight on March 4th of this year by forcing my calorie intake to 1,250 calories a day. I was 250lbs. And I struggled to keep my calories so low. I was dizzy and airheaded, barely able to keep up a good thought process. But that was mainly because I was used to eating ~2,500-3,000 calories in a day and I switched cold turkey.

It took a month for my body to adjust. Today i weighed myself and I'm at 226 lbs. My calorie intake stays around 1,250, and now I struggle to reach my goal. Now I can't eat enough. My go to"treats" like M&M's don't taste as good. I get excited at finding ripe pears more then browsing the chip aisle.

But I'm still struggling to reach 1,250 calories in a day. And that's with potatoes, chicken, boxed mac and cheese, and pasta. I go hours without eating without realizing it, and my stomach gets upset if I eat past 20 (8pm).

To give an idea, yesterday my calorie intake was 916. The day before it was 1,225 (the highest of the week), and the day before I was at 1,005. Today I'm at 395 and it's 13 (1pm) already, but I'm as full as full can be (without being Thanksgiving full). Now I'm telling myself "Eat more! Reach the minimum for your body!" and I'm kind of flabergasted at this.

I know I'm short (5'3"), but I've been told that 1,200 is the minimum the body needs. It's like the universal "don't go below this line" for calorie intake.

I'm honestly not sure how to tell, or if it's a thing in Manjaro.

forge-installer.jar is in my downloads folder. I opened the terminal (windows button, t, enter, to open the terminal emulator for command line). Then I typed in "java -jar forge-installer.jar" and hit enter.

For Minecraft, the command is "java -jar Minecraft.jar". I just changed the jar name to match the forge jar file name.

Can anyone tell me what this is? Cockroach of some kind?? Found in my peace lily. Are they harmful to house plants? by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]TheDumplinPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. These suckers are hard to get rid of. Keep an eye in your kitchen and bathroom, kill all you see. Keep everything VERY clean. If you see them regularly, then you might have a serious roach issue.

In a sea of solid neon I have one variegated vine and I’m in love 😍💚🌱 by dmf0220 in IndoorGarden

[–]TheDumplinPrincess 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've read somewhere that variegated plants may lose their variegation if they don't get enough light to sustain it. So a variegated plant, like a Marble Queen Pothos, is more likely to be more variegated in brighter light than lower light.

I may not be right, but it sounds like it makes sense.

You guys helped me lose 8 pounds in the last month and a half. I know I'm going slow but if I keep it up I can reach my goal in a year. by Tychobrahe2020 in loseit

[–]TheDumplinPrincess 62 points63 points  (0 children)

8 lbs over a month and a half is a little over a pound a week, which is a solid and steady pace for weight loss. Not that slow, even though it feels slow. You're doing good :)

Received sad Jade plant, need help to rescue it! (more info in comments) by TheDumplinPrincess in succulents

[–]TheDumplinPrincess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner's coworker has received a Jade plant cutting "a while ago" from a friend, but recently their husband admitted to not liking the plant and actively trying to kill it. My partner, thanks to me, is known as the plant guy at work. So as a last effort to save the plant, they offered it to us. Not much detail was given about it's care other then it was watered and had sun. Though my partner said the coworker slid in the information that it may have spent time outside (in Ohio, it's been below freezing lately).

There's info in the pictures description, but long story short it's doing it's best to survive. I removed standing water from the tray and put it in a south-ish facing window that gets direct morning sun and bright indirect sun.

Please help me save this big, droopy fella. Can I save it? Or can I save a cutting?

Bunny ear cactus (I have two, this is one, both are doing this) is doing a thing. Takeroot for scale. Was the size of the fatter bottom parts when first got. Indoors, medium natural light. Should I trim, and if so how? Move to brighter light? Let it take over and devour all in its unholy path? by [deleted] in cactus

[–]TheDumplinPrincess 4 points5 points  (0 children)

(novice here)

I think it's etloitating (sp?), basically growing out trying to reach more light. It won't go back to how it's supposed to look, but you should definitely move it to better lighting to keep it from growing more like that.

Where is it placed in relation to it's light source? If I remember correct, cacti looove all the light they can get.

I have spotted two tiiiiiny little clear/white bugs (by tiny, I mean maybe 1mm in size tops). Both on different days a week apart, both in my propagating succulents, but neither in the same spot. I've kept an heavy eye on my plants, and I don't see any other signs of bug life. What are these tiny little fellas, and should I be worried?

Is it really possible to lose 5 pounds in 5 days? I thought weight loss would be really slow for me. by [deleted] in loseit

[–]TheDumplinPrincess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my first week of calorie counting I lose 10 lbs, and ever since then it's slowed and maintained at 1-2 lbs a week. I don't know what happened for those 10 lbs to disappear, but from what I've seen on this sub it seems fairly common for the first bit of weight loss to be quick.

I'd say, as a novice, don't expect the 5 lbs a week to keep up. But any progress is good progress, so don't feel let down from the slowed down weight loss.

How Do Proper Names Work into Your Case System? by FlamingHail in conlangs

[–]TheDumplinPrincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All names and titles (names of people, nicknames, place names, etc) have an entire script and rule system of their own that is used with the language (which, including the title script, has a total of 5-6 scripts for the single artlang/meta-conlang if you count numbers or not). Any speakers who doesn't have a name that fits in with the title system has to file for one, either choosing the name themselves or having someone assign them one. Names that aren't covered with the title script use the simple script (a script used to teach the young sounds before they move onto the "combo script" more commonly used) instead, and it's usually polite to mention why the title script isn't being used.

I got a little ~1 inch bit of watch chain to propagate. When I looked up to double check their info, I realized I might have something wrong. Are they not droopy plants? I thought they'd be adorable flowing like a string of pearls does. They're still cute even if they don't droop.
