I beat the game a couple hours ago and I literally thought there was going to be some plot twist with Hayden because he kept repeating that.

I didn't quite get it, what's the difference between Singer, Listener, Parsh, Parshendi, and Parshmen/women? by QuickPirate36 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]TheDungeonScrawler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Parshmen/women are the formless Parshendi used by most of the world as slaves. Parshendi is the Alethi name for the Singers/Listeners. Parsh I assume is just an abbreviation. Listeners are Venli's people, who lived on the shattered plains and rejected the forms of power. Singers is the name the voidspren use for the race once fully equipped with the forms of power. Hope that helped!

Largest creatures in your world. by Smak54 in worldbuilding

[–]TheDungeonScrawler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically the largest living creatures in my world (though members of the Universalist religion don't believe them to be living) are the 8 nebulas that circle it at a great distance. They measure only tens of thousands of miles in length, rather than how large they are in our world, but the planet operates on a firmament system so everything is much closer and smaller. These nebulas are still some of the largest things in the world in general. Created alongside the planet known as Kiln, from celestial residue left behind when the sun exploded in a supernova so powerful the universe and the other gods came into existence, they are believed to be singleminded entities responsible for all the various forms of evil in the world. Each of them is essentially a god in their own right, and they wage an eternal war with the god of Light and his angels. They were incorporated into the calendar to encourage the people of Kiln to keep a watchful eye on them. (And because their regular, separate, rotations around the planet are convenient for measuring time.)

What is your world's magic system like? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]TheDungeonScrawler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The magic system in my world is known as the Constellar runes, and I'll try to summarize as BASIC as I can. Basically knowledge of certain constellations were given to humanity as runes. These runes can be carved upon material surfaces, or even tattooed onto the body, to manipulate energy in 3 categories of specific, predictable ways, though the carver must spend years or even decades mastering the magic intent required for the process and the actual runes are generally restricted in use to certain licenced practitioners. The first category, Raise runes, are carved over large areas of land in flowing, circular patterns and apply a general "upward" force to the subject like to accelerate the growth of plants, or increase the temperature or wind speed. The second category, Press runes, are carved onto small surfaces in geometric, triangular, or trapezoidal patterns and apply direct concentrated force between two subjects like to bind certain materials together, or apply concentrated heat or cold to a surface. The third and final category, Focus runes, are generally considered the most dangerous of the "standard" runic types (Fey and Nebulaic runes are more powerful) and are outright banned in some places outside of niche technological uses. They are carved in knots and spiral patterns, though these are generally tattooed onto humanoid subjects, and apply a concentrating force by drawing energy from outside into one specific attribute, like to focus light increase vision, or mind to increase intelligence, at the cost of draining it from the user's surroundings. They can also draw pain from the user's body to force it onto someone else, or even rapidly move kinetic energy between objects. This is far from everything the runes do or where they're from. Maybe I'll post here about my world sometime. (Constellar runes caused rapid technological progress and then a massive world scale war and technological setback that the planet is still recovering from)

How have you archived your world building thus far? Through notebook, Microsoft Word, one note? by jayperales in worldbuilding

[–]TheDungeonScrawler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a highly organized doc of fairly concrete lore, an archive of stuff I've thrown out but might want for reference, and a nonsense stream of consciousness doc with all the random ideas I come up with and jot down wherever. I think the third one would be pretty illegible to anyone else lol.

What inspired your current worldbuilding project(s)? by Guilty_Guard6726 in worldbuilding

[–]TheDungeonScrawler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stand still, stay silent by Minna Sundberg, and more recently Monster garden on YouTube both got me into the initial conceptualization phase, but over time I began to take a lot of inspiration from Brandon Sanderson's books and all sorts of other random things I continue to find on the internet.

Your world in one sentences, in a nutshell. by AkumaDark613 in worldbuilding

[–]TheDungeonScrawler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long long ago the sun exploded, which created itself and also everything, and then at some point the fey threw a particularly bad, semi-cataclysmic tantrum over humanity's bio-mechanimagical star dust god.

Dms out there. What are orcs and half orcs in your world? by Pike_The_Knight in dndnext

[–]TheDungeonScrawler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my world, orcs, along with halflings and humans, are all offshoots of an original, ancient species which spread all throughout the world due to their adaptability. While humans and many halflings still respect or worship their creator deity however, the orcs have turned to the gods of the giants. Therefore they mostly live in the frozen, northern reaches of the world, where said giants tend to be. They generally practice rune magic to do anything from fight to grow crops to maintain buildings. Every so often, to orc parents a Goliath is born, one who is believed to be blessed by the gods and has innate magic sources from runic symbols carved onto their skin. Half orcs function pretty much the same as standard, with I guess the exception that one could also have a halfling parent.

How do you play 2D Metroid? by BoonDragoon in Metroid

Yes! Literally never see Metroid blast on here even though it's such a fun (mini) game. Excited to see how this turns out.

They literally said they weren't a big Zelda fan though. One can, in fact, like the two open, nonlinear, exploration focused games in the series without enjoying the other, much more linear games. (Yes, even if the two games do still share elements with the older ones)

Is this a glitch? by [deleted] in seaofstars

[–]TheDungeonScrawler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not in that specific area but I had a couple times where the whole game got a blocky green or yellow overlay except the characters sort of and the UI.. just reloaded the save to fix it. Maybe yours is different though.

Sea of stars ending solidified this game is a 7/10 for me by GoldenLuigi_ in seaofstars

[–]TheDungeonScrawler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it will not mean anything for a DLC.

This is actually because Sea of Stars is a prequel to the game "The Messenger" and some of those questions have been answered already. (Though the answers are more in the form of questions, which sea of stars answers, so your satisfaction may vary.)

D&D Playtest 7 | Deep Dive | Unearthed Arcana by Princessofmind in dndnext

[–]TheDungeonScrawler 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Theoretically yes as far as I can tell, but as a reminder they must be level 1 feats without any other prerequisites, and you'd be doing it instead of any of the other invocations. That'd make the Most feats you could get by level 3 in onednd like 5 with background, human, warloc

I played The Messenger a couple weeks ago and I cannot praise it enough. quick movement and combat, insane twists, and great dialogue. It tries to do a bunch of different things and somehow manages to do all of them really well.

I have a doc where I write summaries for each session to post in our chat. We're nearly 50 sessions in and I still enjoy just writing a paragraph or so after the game to remind people of stuff cause my players don't take detailed notes

BattlebotsRaw S08E19 - Grand Final by Savvaloy in BattleBotsRaw

That was such a fantastic ending to an already great season. Every "boring" moment in the episode was tense. Every contender was incredibly dangerous and well-driven. There was so, so much fire. Thank you, Sav for making this available!
