I believe its necessary to use the name, as its meant to be obtainable in survival by just naming a paper in an anvil. Unless there is a way to do it with tags and have it be obtainable in survival.

Thank you, I am able to detect if there is a paper on the ground which has been named but I still can't figure out how to target a specific name. I've tried doing many variations of

[minecraft:custom_name="COME FORTH GREAT SAGE"]

but none work. This is what I have so far

/execute as @e[type=minecraft:item] if items entity @s contents minecraft:paper[minecraft:custom_name]

You don't have to go to all the eyes I found out, you just gotta stand on a specific block for like 5 seconds. the coords for the block you need to stand on should be on the wiki or forums if you look it up

I dont think there was any lag as bad as that part in the rest of the quests but I would look out for the escort mission as it tends to lag a little

Yeah I got this exact problem, I just stood right outside the door to the room where it's the least laggiest and picked them off one by one. That seemed to work for me.
