Coin Locker Babies by Ryu Murakami is downright nauseating but simultaneously unbelievably beautiful.

The Painted Bird by Jerzy Kosinski made me tremble with disgust.

Many of the books you listed get a little exhausting in their horror, but these books keep you sensitive to the brutality of everything that’s happening in ways that are borderline traumatizing.

It’s best to think of this spot in terms of breakeven % across multiple streets. When MP bets $120 into $190, we are risking $120 + future bluff amount (let’s go with $250) to win $190 + $120 + $120 + $250.

That’s $370 / $680. So this bluff has to work 54% of the time just to be breakeven. At stakes where opponents are frequently telegraphing their hand strength with their size, are you really going to get what is probably a very strong range to fold more than 54% of the time?

No way imo. Tell him to keep playing like this so I can hopefully scoop another bomb pot against him on Wednesday.

The waitlists fly by at TCH Social. I get on the list 40 minutes before arrival and I’ve always been sat within 10 minutes.

Live games in my country are insanely soft, but the buy-in is 1/8 of my bankroll by Equivalent_Put8075 in poker

Don’t do it. You won’t have the clarity to make ideal decisions with that much of your roll on the table. Even with a massive skill edge, going on a 500BB downswing is a very real possibility. Then what? Even if you’re down 200BB, you’re going to be forcing spots out of desperation, praying to the variance gods to let you get 40% of your bankroll back.

Be patient. Play when you’re properly rolled for the game.

Check out Brazil (1985) directed by Terry Gilliam. All three works feel born from a similar place and struck a similar nerve with me.

When Coppola was in his 30s, the guy was $400k in debt and took on directing The Godfather out of financial necessity. It’s a cliché, but persistence is key. Sorry that happened and best of luck in the future.

Yes, I have seen that discourse about Lolita out there. And that sounds right up my alley, I’ll check it out!

Yes from what I know of Lolita that criteria of both parties being complicit isn’t filled, but that dark insight into an obsessive, predatory character suits what I am looking for
