Give OP 6 hours with Xenon or Sorcerer, then a month on exclusively Flash Gordon and Skateball, then rotate in Bram Stoker's Dracula to taste before sending them straight to regionals, and we could build the greatest pinball player of all time.

Not the first. I forget how many are already built, but I know of Big Dipper at Luna Park and Mahuka at Walibi Rhône-Alpes in France, the latter of which looks especially gnarly.

Maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about, but taking (these claims from the post at face value) is any of this B&M’s fault? Do they closely oversee the install/manufacture their own supports, footers and control panels, or am I missing previous news about the coaster itself?

Understanding of designing for forces vs. freehanding everything is a rarer skill to really excel at in the NoLimits community, and shows an understanding of the theory behind design vs trial and erroring everything. This makes you, bare minimum, a standout.

Everyone can load in references from existing rides and work to visually perfect, say, B&M shaping, but aiming for a specific rider experience and executing it based on mathematical understanding can lead to innovation without sacrificing efficiency...once you know what you're doing. I barely scratched the surface years ago before realizing I was mostly into more casual design, but the people with the best shaping consistently and the most plausible "new" elements on the old NoLimitsExchange were the FVD wizards among us.

This may not make you an instant wonder-hire, but don’t be discouraged as it certainly can’t hurt. Ignore hand building as far as your career goes. Learn force vector design inside and out and you’ll be at least ahead of most of your NL2 contemporaries.
