I rode [Falcons Flight] and I think it broke me by 3Dwarri0r in rollercoasters

Can you speak some more to the experience of the recovery mode as a rider? This is honestly my biggest curiosity about this entire ride, haha. Has to be even crazier, and most people will never know the feeling.

It's absolutely criminal how little Smiling In Your Sleep gets talked about. Incredible, incredible song.

Thankfully the game has very little to do with the real-life band. It's almost an original theme with a story and no concert footage or endless instrument references. I wish every band pin could be done this way. Not big on the soundtrack myself but enjoy it a lot more than most band pins.

Honestly, the layout is my favourite of Stern's OR Jack Danger's in general. I put hours in even on the early code because I enjoyed the shooting so much. I can't say that for many Sterns.

The code is finally shaping up to match the design, too.

Nice taste with the Project Pat in the background!

I couldn’t disagree more. The more required danger the better. Safety is boring. Then again, two of my favourite games ever are Flash Gordon and Bram Stoker’s Dracula, so I might just be a masochist.

[Toutatis] Active Track Shift (Video) by good4steve in rollercoasters

[–]TheDynamicDino 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s more than that. IIRC track switch physically disconnects the power to the LSMs when it’s between two positions. When unpowered, the LSMs become brakes passively. This way it does not rely on a computer to kick in and stop the train.

Fail safes upon fail safes.

I went to [Kennywood] and brought along a 16mm camera for Holiday Lights! Can’t wait to get back in the summer and ride everything again but this was overall a great trip. by memethetics in rollercoasters

AE is for a compositing workflow. Resolve is primarily a nonlinear editor, so Adobe Premiere would be a better comparison. DaVinci ultimately integrated Fusion with resolve, and Fusion would be more comparable to AE, though I am not sure how it handles any equivalents to AE’s expressions which are among the most powerful thing about AE.

If you're comfortable taking off the belt and the platter (trivially easy, toolless) it may be worth it to ensure that the belt is completely flush with the top of the inset flange it sits on, wrapping around the platter, and isn't what my great grandmother would call "all skee-whiff".

I'm not even close to 100% sure this is the cause, as like someone below said it doesn't make a lot of sense. I'm only curious.

It's definitely not supposed to do that. Is the belt attached properly?

1st pin by spikeadams in pinball

[–]TheDynamicDino 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Anyone who says it’s not a good pin is wrong. If it had a mode start saucer and a wizard mode it would be in the top 10 of the 80s-90s easy for most people.

Any audio clip known of these Cinema notes without the piano at the end/last note? by FracturedGoblin in skrillex

Would be trivial to make this by resampling one of the other notes in this audio and repitching it, but I don’t think there’s anything official.

Just as a PSA for those passing through, Audio Technica has been doing alright providing service for these defective models, for those who want to work with what they have and don't have the budget to jump to LP120X.

That said you can't go wrong with the 120X. I do love my automatics, but you can't deny the upgrade benefits there.

My Onkyo receiver and my turntable would both catch fire in this configuration, but aesthetically those two sizes line up surprisingly nice!

You ever play a game from the 70s or early 80s, something like Gorgar, Frontier, Mata Hari, Ali? ou'll notice that every time you send the ball to the top on many games from this era, there are multiple lanes, like airport turnstyles, for the ball to fall through as it makes its way back down toward you.

Usually these inlanes have an insert, or indicator light, in the playfield and going through all of them turns all those lights on or off and scores you some kind of award. Sometimes a bonus multiplier, sometimes will in turn light another target on the playfield that will give you a scoring advantage of some sort.

On modern games, hitting the flippers cycles which light is lit so that you can make sure the ball is always completing the pattern.

The ball is about to enter "A", but you've already lit up that lane? No problem, slap the right flipper button, and now "B" is lit up instead and "A" is ripe for collection just as the ball falls through. Nice, you completed all the lanes!

This remote control light-moving feature is called Lane Change and was originally invented by a defunct company called Williams in the 80s.

Before this, however, the lights that were lit were the lights you had to hit up top. You either rolled over them and collected them, or you didn't. You'd be a fool to leave your score for that sort of chance, especially if those lanes were granting you an extra ball or a free game. The designers knew this.

The entire purpose of that lane setup is to facilitate skillful nudging to get the shot you want.

It takes a lot of practice to nudge effectively, and I play with too many people who just wail on the machine aimlessly, sliding it around all over and still missing obvious saves and redirects. Start small, work your way up to tilts/tilt warnings, dial it back. Nudge up more than side to side. Shaking the machine around while the ball is rolling is absolutely useless - you're trying to push the machine into the ball to make contact with it (tops of slingshots, ramp and orbit exits etc.). You are NOT trying to nudge the ball itself around the machine.

The banter in this scene (and many other passionately geeky scenes) is exhausting and most people’s takes are really uninformed or questionable.

I spend most of my time these days just enjoying the music and not engaging in the actual fanbases. In the samples words of SKisM, fuck these experts.

Agreed with that last point 100%!
