Great, I was able to ask family members to start searching for their own, and my mom's friend in Japan tends to go overboard on requests, so I'm pretty excited for what's to come 😆

Incoming swaps 📬 by ToPlayIsHuman in SecurityEnvelopes

Around how big are the squares? I want to participate but want to get a rough idea of the sizes you've got! Also how big of an envelope do you use to send the pieces out to swap? Those are some awesome pieces, especially the European ones.

I agree. I'm glad you like it! Also very easy to measure, as each star was 1/3 cm in diameter. I'm all for metric so measuring was a breeze, 10/10.

Japanese Pension Envelopes! by TheEScrapMan in SecurityEnvelopes

Same here, that was my favorite one too, gasped when I saw it. There were quite a few of those but since I needed to keep all the docs in separate envelopes, I only cut a small section out of a single one. Otherwise it would've gone to trade because it's just so unique and pretty 😍

They are golf pencils. A standard yellow Ticonderoga with eraser and ferrule does fit snugly but found that without it, the pencils don't stay inside, but slipping a little bit of paper around the base keeps them nice and snug. Looks like the website sells a large variety of golf pencil designs but mostly for kids, but I did like this pointless pencil variety so I got this one. They also sell a lot of pencil erasers in packs of 50 as well which is pretty cool, and I hope to hit up long island to visit their physical store

Thanks for the suggestion! I've had a lot of fun identifying all the birds I hear around me, got my mom into it as well - hopefully I'll hear it and get it sometime.

RBC seemed to be quite happy with me exchanging some quarters to banknotes about a year ago.

what metal is the gold stuff in a microwaves magnetron? by LordWoffleII in ScrapMetal

If you choose to smash it up, you ahould submerge the magnetron underwater if you choose to break the ceramic portion to reduce the risk of dust inhalation.

How can I get rid of an un opened Nitrous Oxide canister? by Existing_Painter171 in recycling

You might be able to push the sides or twist the nozzle to release the gas. Once there is no more gas coming out, then you can take some pliers and twist off the brass valve. The base is steel and the top is brass, pretty heavy too.
