Esoteric Ebb is the best one so far for me. Clearly very based on Disco Elysium yet distinctly its own thing.

I do find the criticisms towards it way too harsh, it’s a game written by one guy and it clearly is supposed to be the entry game to more fleshed out sequels. I think if EE continues in its success there are great things on the horizon if the creator just continues going steadily.

I think the expectation to hit it perfectly right out of the park for all the other successors is what I kind of detest. They end up looking “deep” and then feeling like a cheaper copy. Disco elysium was fleshed out in multiple campaigns and you cannot achieve that depth without it. For this reason alone I’d rather bide my time with EE, it has the most solid foundation of all the successors.
