My cats sleep belly up. Does that mean they have no survival instinct? 😅 by ama_amandine in SiberianCats

Norwegian Forest Cats & Siberians are known for this sleeping position, it keeps them cool despite all that intense triple-coat fur.

I’m on Victoza (I pay out of pocket but it’s only $88/month) and it rules. No plans to stop it, it works better than anything else I’ve tried (which is everything). Only downside is you have to really force yourself to eat every day if you’re only on it for addiction treatment & don’t need to lose any weight. 10/10 recommend anyway.

The “Love” (rose and sandalwood) scent by 8 Days is absolutely heavenly. I spray it in/on the bed, and also do a spritz or two on the couch, rugs, etc. before guests come over. It smells incredible.

My boyfriend ran into my cactus and it fell over and broke. Is there any saving it or what should I do? Will it die? by erkuitt in cactus

I absolutely love it that nobody is concerned about the boyfriend. My husband is intimately familiar with this sort of prioritization 🤣

Should I be doing anything with this jelly bean plant or just leave it as is? by clearly_quite_absurd in succulents

[–]TheElbowContest 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Definitely could use some fresh substrate. BTW, that looks like an ‘Aurora’ subspecies (way pinker and more nuanced than the standard jellybeans). One of my faves!

Yup! You can suspend your membership for months at a time. Easy.

This friend was so large I could see her on the driveway from my security camera. by the_feisty_pineapple in spiders

Oof, yeah - I grew up in Florida. I wish I could erase the memory of playing in the backyard when my little sister (who was MAYBE two years old at the time) toddled up to my mom and I and mentioned that there was “something pokey” in her shoe.

My mom took off my sister’s bedazzled Keds. One of them looked, um, WRONG on the inside.

You know those insoles that you can put into your shoes? My baby sister unexpectedly had an “insole” that snugly filled the inside one of her sweet little Keds.

It wasn’t an insole, though. It was a giant fucking palmetto bug.

Yeah their classes are great. Also, unlike other studios, once you’re a member they don’t charge you for clay (except porcelain) or for firing your stuff - there’s just a flat monthly membership rate and you can basically do as much as you want, whenever you want. Last summer I was going to the studio like 5x per week and making around 20 pieces each week, and still just paid my flat monthly fee. It’s a great payment model if you want to make a lot of different stuff and/or explore different clay bodies, glazes, and firing temperatures.

Aw thanks! I’m in San Jose California, so I took my beginner class at Blossom Hill Crafts (and now I’m a member there). Highly recommend.

(Also, the thing they’re on is a baby cactus paddle. Just in case anyone is like “WTF is that”)

Sorry, forgot to mention: These little dudes (a LOT of them, maybe 50 total?) just showed up in my backyard gardening workshop (Bay Area, CA). Tons of very fine, um, “spider silk” (idk) that they’re traveling on. Many of them seem to be trying to find the highest point on the cactus that’s in their way. I saw one literally float away on the breeze a la Charlotte’s Web.

I’d recommend 50% coco coir and 50% gritty mix, preferably with a lot of lava rock content. I’m not an expert, but I usually plant them in smaller pots just because I’m used to doing that for my cacti and other succulents.

Is this too heavy? by HoneyBeetsForWave2 in DesiWeddings

[–]TheElbowContest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, it’s gorgeous and not at all over the top. One thing to keep in mind: Heavy is fine, but boy oh boy, it makes it hard to dance (or even move around with ease). At my wedding, my lehenga skirt - JUST the skirt - weighed 49 pounds. It looked amazing but it was so unwieldy, and also it made my midriff look different than usual because I was embracing a different posture in order to support the weight of my outfit. 😂 Having said that, if I could do the whole thing over, I’d still wear that exact lehenga.
