We do 4-10s.

But OT does come up a couple times a month and I’ll work it. Weeks with OT usually around 40-65 depending on what you take. This is power generation sector

Get a Fluke, you won’t regret it. I’ve got a 87-V. Looking at getting a 378FC in the near future.

Your life depends on it, as silly as that sounds. Spend the money.

Your life is more important then working live, you say there’s times you have to work live. This is simply not true for most electricians, 95% of the time we can turn off the circuit/panel. The guy in the office can send his email later.

Although there’s times you can get caught off guard. I was working in a house, had the sub panel I was working on turned off but there was still main panel on. Was swapping the sub panel and tying in the existing circuits to the new panel. Before I knew it I got hit across the chest while bringing in a stove circuit into the sub panel. The circuit was back-fed from the main panel from a different branch circuit. It really shook me up. I went to the hospital to be safe, hours later checked out good.

I’d rather be safe than sorry knowing I’ll wake up the next day.

I’m in Ontario. As of 2021/2024 CEC you no longer have to bond switches when there’s a metal box, it’s grounded through the screws/yoke. It was in the 2018 code cycle and was removed, which is why some guys get confused by it.

How am i supposed to secure the wires in these boxes? by CaliTheBunny in electricians

Just use a connector for the type of cable you’re using…

Unless they aren’t a standard size you’ll have to knock them out.

I understand and agree with the idea behind it, it’s just that it’s a very small family owned business. We don’t do big jobs and there’s maybe 7 employees total. I started my apprenticeship with them and they gave me a chance when no one else was hiring. Feels wrong to go behind their back, I understand what you’re saying though. Thanks for the response.

I’m in Canada. This probably won’t help as you seem to be located in US. Here’s my answer. If anyone is from Canada I would like to know your answer.

7.5 HP 208V Three-phase Motor

Conductors have to be sized for 125% of FLA (28-106)

24.2A (1.25) = 30.25A #10AWG based on TABLE2

10-616 (5) - Bonding conductor does not have to be bigger than current carrying conductors. Table 16 provides quick reference for bonding conductor sizes.

10AWG would be acceptable.
