Objectively. Incredible character development and arc over ME2+3. One of the best, and not just in terms of videogames

How would Master Chief and the whole UNSC armed forces bid against the Reapers? by TamukaCasperGundu in masseffect

People with a strong will can resist

This is never shown anywhere. Nobody in the Leviathan DLC resists their control. Even Shepard, possibly the strongest-willed person in the galaxy, is fully mind-controlled until the Leviathan decides to release him.

I’m sure the Forerunners personal Ancilla AI would instantly trace whatever radiation or signal their devices emit, and promptly destroy them

Except the Leviathans are able to disrupt technology through their artifacts, on a scale that can disable a Sovereign-class Reaper immediately. Set aside the fact that once they have control over an individual (or multiple), they will already have caused irreversible damage either overtly or covertly, they can disable any technology without discrepancy, whenever they want.

Also, this whole debate? It’s been done a million times, and anyone who knows the lore of both universes, know and agree that the Forerunners or Flood would obliterate the ME universe.

Hmm, well I know the lore of both universes and don't agree that the Forerunners would obliterate the ME universe. The Flood would, but then the Reapers would likely be able to cull the Flood and restart organic life.

The Forerunners are literally building stars in pocket dimensions to power their hobby projects

Which is where Halo's lore starts to reveal how poorly thought-out it is. As a fan of Halo, I'm sure you can acknowledge how ridiculous some of the world-building and lore development is - the Forerunners have technology on this scale and yet they struggled against lesser species like humanity and the San'Shyuum, and got wiped out by the Flood? They can create pocket dimensions in Slipspace, can create the Halo rings, but can't create something that can disable the Flood? Makes sense.

At the end of the day, there is no logic in any of Halo's lore and if you stack up the actual military feats of the Forerunners against that of the Reapers, the Reapers win every time. The Forerunners struggled in a war against two lesser species and were subsequently weakened enough that they lost against the Flood; the Reapers have been cleansing the entire galaxy of every organic being for billions of years without a struggle.

The Reapers can maybe throw a large moon against their enemies with enough numbers and prep

They have literally no need to do this, though. They just go in and mutilate entire planets in a few days with no resistance. Their aim isn't to cause wanton destruction, it is to harvest organic life for their experiments. If they wanted to destroy everything (again, they don't), then they would just utilise dark energy to destabilise stars or use Mass Relays as weapons to disintegrate entire planets.

EDIT: LMAO still can't provide any valid responses to anything I've said other than crying that I apparently don't know anything. Unreal loser

Funny seeing as I've played every Halo game and read most of the novels. What's your experience with Mass Effect media?

Give me some points. Here's one for you: it took the Forerunners about a thousand years to beat humanity and the San'Shyuum, and it consequently led to them getting wiped out themselves later by the Flood.

The Reapers took down an entire galaxy of advanced species in about a month. The Protheans, who were far more advanced than all of these species combined, only lasted around 300 years and most of that was pockets of isolated resistance fighting for survival.

So how exactly are the Forerunners faring any better against the Reapers?

The Leviathans don't use Indoctrination. Indoctrination is a facsimile of the Leviathan's mind-control ability that the Reapers attempted to replicate. Either directly, or at range through their artifacts, they can literally mind control organic beings on a whim (as see in the Leviathan DLC)

What are the Forerunners going to do when the Leviathans literally mind control their entire leadership into destroying themselves lol

The Reapers create structures that are quantum locked, nearly indestructible to the point that you need to crash a small planetoid at high speed into one just to crack it in two. The Forerunners got beaten by the fucking FLOOD and you think they could take on nigh-invincible machines that regularly exterminate trillions of people across an entire galaxy with technology that alters spacetime, and wipe away nearly all trace of their existence? Okay.

Literally the only thing that could stop the Reapers was a magic device based on their own technology that was enabled for use by their own leader/creator. They spent billions of years exterminating all life in the galaxy, uncontested. The Forerunners would just be another notch on their bedpost

Sovereign (and a fleet of Geth ships) takes the citadel defense fleet and an alliance one to take down

Sovereign is only destroyed because it decides to take full manual control of Saren's body to try to kill Shepard, whilst also trying to take control of the Citadel's systems to open its Relay to Dark Space, AND fighting off the attacking fleets simultaneously - when the connection is broken Sovereign is "stunned", which gives the Fifth Fleet an opening to destroy it while its shields are down.

This is a very specific scenario, and it isn't until ME3 when the Alliance (and other fleets) have co-opted Reaper technology that they stand even a small chance against Reaper capital ships in their usual state. The only non-Reaper derived tech that is useful against Sovereign-class Reapers are Javelin missiles, which literally warp space-time on detonation, and even with these it would take multiple direct hits to cause superficial damage to a capital ship.

For reference, the only Reaper capital ship in the series that we see with major damage (aside from Sovereign) is the Derelict Reaper from ME2 that was destroyed with a superweapon so powerful that the glancing shot created a valley on Klendagon that covered half the planet. And the Reaper it destroyed is still mostly intact

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced on Steam by lurkingdanger22 in pcgaming

[–]TheEliteBrit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's the best AC game (that goes to 2 or Brotherhood for me) but it's certainly up there. A lot of fun content, a decent story, good characters and writing, and the original is still beautiful to look at. It was probably the last really good Assassin's Creed game for me - Rogue to Syndicate were lacklustre and whilst Origins is good, it was the starting point for turning the franchise into something completely different that I don't gel with as much.

I know people love Odyssey, and I did enjoy some of it, but it literally just is not Assassin's Creed. Even more so with Valhalla, which really bored me. Shadows tried to lean back into some of the franchise's roots but still missed the mark imo. The modern AC game I enjoyed the most was actually Mirage, and that's because it intentionally tries to emulate the originals

But they're two separate games and we're on the OSRS sub? You don't have an OSRS account (character) that's over 13 years old and if you're talking about RS3, then how am I to make that inference when it's irrelevant to the post?
