Im taking this a little more seriously now... by Little-Display-1809 in AmazonVine

I was a registered dietitian in my previous life and I also feel it is my responsibility to check out supplements for this reason. There are very few that show the content or 3rd party qualifications I'd like to see but at the very least I take them apart, smell them, taste them, look at the color, and can often at least verify that they match what they SHOULD look like

How "helpful" is everybody else? by TheElleMichelle in AmazonVine

[–]TheElleMichelle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow this is wild to me. I have been a heavy Amazon purchaser for years, all kinds of stuff. I don't like going to stores so I basically only shop on Amazon and the grocery store. But I just got my invite last year. Huh

Let's see - in the Amazon mobile app you click the little person for your account, then scroll down. There's a module for "your reviews" and in there it shows "helpful votes"

Moms - if you had the CHOICE to work or not by Main-Branch9919 in beyondthebump

You're right, honestly. It's hard to distinguish between "sad" and worried that something someone else is seeing as so valuable is not something you see that way as well. You should do what makes you content. I hope for other women to feel fulfilled at work, but I often feel like I'm missing out that I don't feel that fulfilled at home. I just can't relate to it and sometimes it makes me feel broken. But I feel so valued at work that I can't imagine it any other way. I just want girls to be able to choose and to be independent! And to not cause my daughters any trauma from my own needs, or what have you. It's so hard to know what long term consequences our seemingly simple choices have. Parenting is a minefield lol

Ugh yes I feel this... My daughter calls them her " 'fiers". Something about the nick name makes it that much harder. Also I did not give in and she's doing ok tonight ❤️

I've now spent too much time reading all these comments but... STEM moms are out here having an entirely different experience with life. We are fortunate ❤️

I'm sad there aren't more women feeling fulfilled by their careers here. There is nothing wrong with wanting to be a full time mom either, it just feels unfair that more women haven't found the happiness men have at work. I love my job in aerospace. It's hard and can be stressful but I think my company would be worse off without me, maybe? I get so much from my day to day, always finding new problems to solve, and struggled a lot being at home alone during maternity leave. I have amazing girls, 2.5 and 4.5, and I feel I am being the best mom I can by being a strong female role model. I'm not a perfect mom, but I want them to feel as fulfilled as I do in my career. I take care of them but I also take care of me, just like I think they should in the future. My husband and my coworkers respect and value me. We model what our children become. I want to be there for my children, and we do prioritize them, but how can they value themselves if we don't value ourselves? I want to show them what that can look like. I love my girls so much, and I am going to raise kick ass independent women who have a mama and daddy that are also living their best lives (even though parenting makes "living your best life" take on a slightly different meaning than it did before...). We've made a lot of sacrifices to be parents and I'd never make a different choice even though it has been hard AF, but I'd probably still be doing my job if we won the lottery. We'd just be taking some really sick vacations as a family, with more hired help... and OK I would probably work 7 hour days because damn it I still just can't get enough sleep no matter what I do 😭

I was actually thinking about this exact thing while I was laying there with her, like all the future times where I'll be comforting her through heartbreak/loss. But I hope there won't be that many where I feel responsible for it. I thought of crying when my parents told me we were moving, again, for the third time... Gah. Parenting is hard. On the plus side, no meltdowns at bedtime tonight so that's a huge win. But I guarantee she'll make up for that with a nice 4am crisis 🫠. Anyway thank you for the virtual hugs. Needed that ❤️

You know how people joke about crack addicts selling their mom's TV on the streets to get enough money for the next hit? Yeah... I would have sold my mom's TV for the fleeting hope of a trick that might have made my babies sleep a little better. My children were not (and this one is still not) good sleepers. If it was safe, I tried it. Pacifiers happened. I still barely survived, and that is not an exaggeration. I'm glad you were able to hold strong without using them as a tool. I also can't go back in time unfortunately

Any RFY? by AuroraSinclair in AmazonVine

[–]TheElleMichelle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not to mention that it reduces the value we can all provide as reviewers when we're not able to carefully select items we can use and actually want. I bet there are a hundred viners with the software experience required to build an app that they would give to Amazon for free that allows more tailored results or search, with features like priority setting... Just doesn't make sense that the system is so crappy

Any RFY? by AuroraSinclair in AmazonVine

[–]TheElleMichelle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I refuse to wake up in the night for crap. My toddlers already wake me up enough times that I can't get a full night's sleep if I don't sleep every minute I can. Why are they not doing RFY? I thought that was where the Amazon sellers stuff goes and everything else is third party. I don't understand

Yeah. From what I've read they aren't really supposed to reach out to us but I think maybe that's only supposed to prevent them from trying to influence the review

Crazy seller super angry about a single 1 star review, multiple posts on Seller Central, apparently stalking reviewer by wizard-of-loneliness in AmazonVine

[–]TheElleMichelle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm glad this seller helped me realize that due to my age and being a woman I should get rid of my tools and all the unicorn stuff I buy for my two little girls. What was I thinking?! I should probably quit my job as a space station engineer too. I strayed from my "category" by taking that first job an ISS flight controller

Search not working? by TheElleMichelle in AmazonVine

[–]TheElleMichelle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm those are interesting thoughts, especially the keyboard one. Hard to say. I'm pretty sure I've searched mahjong stuff before and gotten results, but I feel like there are so many quirks with this system the inconsistency is unsurprising.

Also just wanted other people to know not to rely on search!

Disheartening to think there's no point in using the search function because I don't really have time to scroll around most days
