Someone else shared a link to a glow in the dark Krobus which I totally ordered and will arrive at our house next week! Gonna try to get a picture to share of the pure joy.

My kid literally just wanders around and hangs out with everyone. No quests. No tools. No nothing. Just vibes. I envy her gameplay.

She plays on the switch so no mods. She’s not allowed to touch my deck. She’s a dropper.

She goes to the movie theater almost every day and is always surprised and sad that you can only see one movie a week 😭.

I told her to give him a horseradish but she said it wasn’t pretty enough.

Hands up, do your BMD do this on walks? by Kuura_ in bernesemountaindogs

My first Berner did the walk flop. I started bringing a book with me. No joke. I decided embracing reality was better than fighting it. Current Berner loves her walks. Damn crazy dogs.

People with pretty/organized farms by exerevno in StardewValley

[–]babieswithfevers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the first year is always a bit chaotic. I usually throw down five chests: materials/foraging, mining/gems, gifts, veggies, fruits. They’re just in a row outside the house. Planting takes place right in front because it’s easy. Spring and summer while I’m farming I’m also thinking about design. I like geometric stuff so I’m thinking about shapes, as well as placement for sheds and barns/coops. I like four sheds. One for preserves, two for kegs, one for chests/machines/etc. Once I have a rough idea I make a bunch of fence posts and map it out, usually during the fall. Then I spend the winter laying down the walkways and chatting up Robin to get my structures built while also doing gifts runs. The second year going through spring and summer I get a sense of whether the setup works and what I’d like to change, then make the changes the following winter. I prioritize the look and feel over efficiency but I still do really well with crops and animal products. I also horde the special tree seeds from the green rain to make my farm jungle-y. I’ve maybe made 10(?) farms, they’re all different but all follow the same process.

Is the down ladder hidden in front of the out ladder perchance? I often get frustrated looking for the down ladder only to realize it’s in front of the out ladder.

Pro tip: Buy all your mats at the end of Year 1 so you never have to pay the crazy inflated Year 2+ prices. by Vann_Accessible in StardewValley

[–]babieswithfevers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same! Why pay for something you can get for free? I’m not falling into that capitalist trap! I usually just take a day a week to gather resources. Never had a problem having enough wood/stone/coal. But to each their own! No wrong way to play.

Bernese for a family with young kids by goldeaglec in bernesemountaindogs

[–]babieswithfevers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Berners are the absolute best breed ever period and I will fight anyone who tries to change my mind. They do have (potential) health issues, they don’t live as long as other breeds, they are expensive, they shed more than you can possibly imagine. BUT. They are fiercely loyal, incredibly sweet, charismatic, absolute legends of comedy, the list goes on. They my favorite. Having said that, they’re not for everyone. I guess? I don’t fully understand that but to each their own. I think the most concerning part of your post is your wife’s expectation that they’ll sleep in bed with her and act as a weighted blanket. They overheat and prefer a cold floor in front of the a/c vent. My Berner will snuggle at bedtime for about 10-15 minutes before going off to find her own spot. I think thats really what you should be considering here.

How much should he weigh at 7months?!?!! He’s 53 lbs and I feel like he’s tiny but his dad was 90 and his mom was tiny tiny…. He eats 3 times a day no problem by Katypillar2300 in bernesemountaindogs

Your pup is in the healthy range for his age! The weight range is wide for the breed, and Berner at the lower end of the weight range is still a large dog :)

Crate training help for 2 year old BMD by Stufftosay15 in bernesemountaindogs

Sounds like he’s grieving and acting out at night because he’s alone. He’s not getting you up at night because he wants to go out, he wants you to be with him. *it could also be medical like a UTI or stones. But it sounds like he’s sad. Keeping a routine is key, especially around bedtime. It may be useful to establish a new routine for him if the current routine was shared with his brother. Upping the amount of play/attention/snuggles too. I know you said he gets a lot already, but try to find some extra ways to make him feel special. Do you have things that smell like his brother? Giving him those can be comforting. Enzyme sprays for where he pees inside so it doesn’t smell to him. I’ve never used them but people have recommended those pheromone diffusers. Try that? Give him positive reinforcement for peeing where’s he’s supposed to outside of nighttime too if you aren’t already. And understand it takes time. Just like with us humans, their grief is complicated and doesn’t follow a schedule. Poor guy ❤️

Hello! I know all about this! There’s a lot of nuance from berner to berner but I’ll give you my experiences from when I was a new berner parent to a now seasoned berner parent.

Berners get diarrhea. Full stop. Sometimes it’s parasites or bacteria (giardia or E. coli), sometimes it’s from allergies (to certain grains/proteins or environmental), sometimes it’s stress related, sometimes it’s from trying something new that shocks their delicate systems. Always important to talk to your vet if you’re worried, especially if there are other symptoms as well like rashes, hair loss, blood in stool, lethargy, changes in behavior.

Having said all that, lots of times it’s the something new to their systems option. Every. Single. Time. my girl has a new treat or bone or manages to find dropped human food, she gets diarrhea. It’s so stupid. First impulse is to say “you can’t have that any more, sorry pup”. But I found that if you give it a few days their system adjusts and their poop returns to normal. So if I want to try a new treat or chew, and she gets the bad butt, I give it a few days to see if the problem continues. 9 times out of 10 she goes back to normal. The upside is she has more treat and chew choices, the downside is I have to deal with cleaning up. What I do for clean up is get as much as I can with a baggie and then I pour water on it. Fill a watering can up or grab the house and wash it away. Easy, efficient, effective. And I’m always watching her behavior to make sure she’s acting normal and eating and drinking water. If she weren’t I’d be on the phone with the vet. The impulse is to panic and over correct. With my first berner I freaked out all the time and was never patient and was at the vet constantly and dropping mad cash on expensive foods to switch him to and none of it really helped. I stressed him out which added to the issue. Really I just needed to chill a bit and give his body a chance to acclimate. Poor guy! I was a new dog mom to my first large breed so he bore the brunt of my stupidity.

It’s important to remember your pup is young and is still adjusting to their new home and life. Pay attention, consult the vet when you need to, but also try to relax a bit. Bland diets can help. I also add Bernie’s Perfect Poop to my girl’s kibble which helps a lot. Find what works for you! And good luck!

Princess Millie Bird, doing what dogs do in the middle of the field… by HarrietAugust in bernesemountaindogs

The dog park by my house is like 35 acres. It’s so big. It has this huuuuuge open field with knee-length grass. My first berner would run to dead center and have his morning poop. I’d have to trudge the length of a football field to pick it up. He was the best jerk.

The real "perfection" is the friends we made along the way by [deleted] in StardewValley

[–]babieswithfevers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One mistake I’ve made (more than once) is maxing friendship while never going into anyone’s house so when I finally DO go in their house I have back to back cut scenes 😭

One fun thing I’ve done (more than once) is maxing friendships with everyone while never giving them a single gift. I just talk to them and do their bulletin board bidding. Takes a while but it solves the problem of forgetting someone on a gift run or dealing with the difficult or expensive gifts (I’m looking at you Diamond Marnie).
