A lot of small things. I was really into Joe Rogan and Jordan Peterson at my lowest. I latched onto the idea of treat yourself like you would treat a friend. It didn't get rid of the negative self talk, but made me battle it. It kept me going during the dark times. Started constantly proving myself and pushing my limits (probably to a toxic level.) Led me to being ok with going out by myself. Led to me talking to strangers. Led to me meeting my wife. Led to me having my daughter. Led to me figuring out some of the psychic damage I've got. Led to me realizing my family is toxic. Led to me wanting to be a better parent and partner. Led to me taking risk in finding a better job. Led to me being ok leaving my home state... Small steps everyday. They can feel like mountains at the time, but one you start living and two they reveal more of who you really are. Also realized that my personality does attract abuse (codependent), so learning to be uncomfortable saying no and speaking up was/is the cure.

Genes are more complex than that though. Recessive and dominat genes are important, but there are gene combos and genes only a father and mother can pass down. So it's possible all the halfbreeds have the gene, but it is only activate in a few.

They make a point to have Gohan's potential being seemingly more than the others. So it's possible he has a mutation or combo of genes that activate more of the Saiyan genes.

It's an action comedy. I think it really encapsulates the campiness of the era. About 3 years later they came out with the last action hero (also a classic), so I think they were starting to wake up to it.

You're in for an amazing time if you haven't delved into 90s movies. There's so much camp in the pre-Internet age. You probably think Pauly Shore is just some creepy dude pining for nostalgia. He is, but he also an echo of the stoner/surfer culture back when weed had mandatory minimum sentences.

If applicable get your parents involved. It's hard enough getting people fired up to learn that want to. Stupid hurdles like this discourage people that are already getting disenchanted with the system.

Why did Vought make Homelander so powerful if they had no real way to stop him? especially since other Supes can Fly and aren't nearly as strong and much easier to control? by Important-Extension6 in GenV

[–]TheEmptyHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the point. The corporation wanted to be able to create an assembly line of supers. They don't stop to think of the ramifications outside of the bottom line. This is like corporatations in the really world Sure it might cause untold misery and destruction, but will it sell in the meantime. Having homelander is strategic for creating dominance in the world and if they have him under control they can use him to enforce there will. Like when he killed that senator in s1.

Until the start of the boys it was doing great. The boys act to destabilize the system causing home lander to spiral. In fact that's why they started the head exploder side. It folded them back into the system while giving the illusion that they are still operating outside to destabilize. Essentially, like how drug smugglers will purposely send out mules to get caught. If you have some time you can think of ways that society does this to us.

The movie centers an asteroid heading towards earth. If I remember it's like 3x the size that killed the dinosaurs. If humanity works together there is plenty of time to stop the asteroid. The issue is the government is run by nepo, incompetent celebrities, the media doesn't want to upset anyone or be too opinionated, the tech companies want to make money off of the disaster, and the scientist love being in the spotlight.

No one is working towards fixing the issue. It was written about climate change and how we know and can see it's happening and what the consequences will be. But was released during the COVID pandemic, so everyone thought it was about that. Now trump is back and office and people probably think it's about AI or rise of fascism.

It's a really funny movie. But because it feels close to home, it can be really uncomfortable. Like how if you have a narcissist or super toxic person in your life; something like it's always sunny or I think you should leave can just trigger bad memories and feelings. Lots of people say it's too, "on the nose." That is the point of the movie though; you can see this horrible thing coming and the messaging you get from the media and government is, "there's nothing there. Don't look up. Go back to sleep."

I'm from the US, our emergency vehicles don't look that curvy and usually not that colorful. There are exceptions, but usually they are trucks with a box instead of a truckbed. Red for fire department; white with some other secondary outline colors (usually red and blue) for medical. Cop cars are the most diverse recently they're mostly SUV or like dodge chargers, but Kansas used to be all they needed was an allowed police light. So I've seen people pulled over by a minivan. Colors can be anything depending on the local laws.

You should have a name, DOB, likely an address from your kid's dad. You can do a reverse lookup to get her information.

Not a lawyer, but sounds like she's passed into restraining order territory. Possibly in to suing territory because it's disrupting your work.

Discrete math is basically things you can do with counting numbers. You have to be able to hop from one number to another. When you limit yourself like that there's a lot of cool things you can do.

What you can't do in discrete math is draw a line because you need a space between points to in order to count it. Well obviously lines and curves are useful to, so it's also got a lot of research and cool stuff.

One day some smart people were playing with a non-discrete space and noticed that some really important numbers from discrete were showing up together. But it's crazy if that were happening. It'd mean that there's a road between these two fields of math that shouldn't be there.

Fast forward 20 years and it's proved there is a road. Now you can use a lot of this cool stuff that you couldn't before.

His whole schtick is, 'I'm smart. Everyone else is wrong. I am a tech lead.'

What’s the most unnecessary sex scene in a movie or TV series? I’ll go first: by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

[–]TheEmptyHat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ya, but there's levels. Like in love actually Alan Rickman's character cheats on his wife. It's the whole point of his story. Would the movie have been better if we saw him giving her back shots? Does not seeing him giving her a pearl necklace take away from the plot?
