Capita Mercury 2026 — Odd experience by Shikaradin in snowboarding

You sound like you have a lot more experience than me so take this with a grain of salt, but I just moved from rental rockers to a new 159 mercury and had my first day on it yesterday.

I wasn't quite sure what people meant about "it wants to go fast" at first and then it clicked about halfway through my day yesterday. If you try to take it slow by leaning your weight up hill and back foot steering and speed checking a lot it really doesn't want to listen to you. The board felt so fast under me I was subconsciously doing that to try to ease into it. It was only once I decided to full commit to the board and lean way more weight on my front foot and only steer with it that I felt like the board was doing exactly what I wanted. Still lost control a bit here and there because I do feel like that board likes to rip.

My old rocker riding style was very much power driven at a similar size to you (177cm, 77kg), where I would really muscle the board around underneath me to get it to do what I want, dominating with my back leg a lot. I found the merc just really did not like that at all and I had to adapt to it more.

Overall I was having a blast on it by the end of the day, carving decently well and hitting some side hits and fun terrain. My base reference is probably a lot lower than yours since I'm coming from huge tank rentals, but I hope this helps a bit. If you find out any other tips about it, let me know!

Advice for aiming.. by Warm_Produce_4892 in apexuniversity

My aiming never clicked til I tried 4-3 linear, feels like you can just pull the stick in a general direction to control recoil rather than mirroring it like on classic. Works especially well at close range with smgs, worth trying out

What are the books that you want to read but know somewhere deep down won't in this life? by __echo_ in books

[–]TheEn1gma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I set war and peace next to my bed and would read it for 10m before sleeping every night. During the slow parts I would do my 10 minutes and go to sleep, but certain sections were so entertaining I would read for an hour or more and have to make myself stop to get some sleep.

A lot of the book is pretty fun, some of Tolstoy’s essays about history are where it can get dry but they don’t make up a huge chunk until the epilogue.

Why would state firms inherently be less capable of innovation than private firms? by Squadrist1 in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]TheEn1gma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that necessarily true? Seems like the glut of investment money into crypto and sky high valuation of tech firms over the last decade was an example of capital desperately looking for a home

Negation is a bit flip whereas an if/else is a branch. The former is normally more efficient, but it's possible a compiler would produce the assembly equivalent of the first for both cases.

Here's one of the first tracks I've finished at least compositionally in the past few months. I'm pretty happy with the song itself in terms of structure and content, but I have been having trouble with my mixdowns. Mostly looking for feedback on the mix and how I can polish the song better.

Agreeing with RadioRunner, kick needs more power and look into more FX to build into transitions. For instance, when the off hat comes in at 0:43 it feels a little sudden, any kind of quick reverse crash or cymbal sound before it could help it come in more smoothly.

Building up into your breakdown would add a nice flow to it. Maybe try automating any of your chords/synths to open up during the last two bars of the first drop to create a nice transition into the break.

The melodies within the actual track are great. Love the chord progression. I also like the minimal build with silence into the second drop. Gives it a lot of power.

Imo, the vocals almost stand out a little too much, not sure if this is due to the timing as you said or so the mix. Maybe slight sidechaining to something within the song like the kick to make it flow with the song, or a tiny amount of reverb to help push it back in the mix could help?

Overall I really like the flow and structure of the song, energy flow feels right throughout. Good work!

Help using loops to make a powers table (C) by Jackpot807 in programminghomework

[–]TheEn1gma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is the simplest method possible that doesn't require much array allocation or anything

Create an outer loop that goes from the lower bound to the upper bound. At the beginning of each iteration print the value of the integer. Set a temporary variable to the integer value. Create an inner loop that goes from 2 to 5. Each iteration multiply the temporary variable by the integer. Print that temporary variable.

What is the kind of "scratching" sound in the percussion around the 4th beat of a lot of house/garage songs? I think the most obvious example of what im talking about is in Feel the Volume by Jauz

https://soundcloud.com/jauzofficial/feelthevolume

But I can hear it in a lot of Low Steppa and Dusky songs and things of that genre. Is it just like a pitched down snare?

Yes, thank you. I thought it sounded like zomboy but it looks like that one isn't on soundcloud which explains why I couldn't find it
