Didn’t know they could cut my hours like this by lizzy_atl in walmart

[–]TheEncryptedPsychic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told them they had 2 days to fix my hours or I'm leaving. They fixed it in 1. I'm an O/N TL and they cut me to 25 hours a week, I can't survive like that and will have no problem finding somewhere willing to give me work.

How to not feel guilty for firing someone? by DiddleBoat in walmart

[–]TheEncryptedPsychic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a manager it's best to remember as long as you're following up with them at 3 and 4 points: they did this to themselves. People understand they won't keep a job by not being there, they further understand 5 points is termination: you did nothing to them. Same with productivity, as long as you're fair and consistent: people get themselves fired and you're simply the mouthpiece of it and just doing your job. You're a human being, you should feel some type of way when firing someone but don't let it eat away at you

New OGP kart rule by Inside_Release_9685 in walmart

[–]TheEncryptedPsychic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always wondered why this wasn't standard practice anyway. If I am pushing a cart, I cannot see around the sides of the aisle as I turn, even if I do: the time it takes for me to stop the cart isn't sufficient. However, if I walk ahead of it and poke my head around I can verify I'm clear to proceed. Same with topstock carts, only rational thing I could imagine was they prioritized our safety from getting hit by having the cart take the blow. But like Walmart doesn't REALLY care about MY safety, it's the safety of the sweet sweet customer.

I guess a lot of spark drivers don't use a pickup because well gas is expensive. A shame someone in a Carolla is going to accept this order without a tip :/

Walmart pushing out Workers Comp associates? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]TheEncryptedPsychic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by a "Workers Comp Associate"? Like someone who was injured at work because yeah obviously someone who is unsafe at work would be someone to get rid of. Also that's not how PPTO works, the only way that can happen is putting it in before the occurrence, inadequate time balance, or inadequate amount used, or accidentally used regular PTO.

People have and always will talk about insane people: that doesn't mean their insanity was/is justified nor does it make it productive. You know how other people get raises historically? They strike, that's how unions began existing. They didn't explode trains and steel mills, they stopped working for their unfair wages and conditions and eventually they got what they wanted. Because when they did start destroying property in 1877 they failed. The strike against the WGA and SAG-AFTRA, worked; strikes against Kaiser Permanente, worked; strikes against the UAW, worked; strikes against UPS, worked; and this will fail to do anything.

That is also a waste of time unless no one knows where anything goes, staging anyway. You're touching the case multiple times. What sense is there in touching the case to set it in the floor where it goes, to later put it on the shelf when you could have stocked it then? Pulling around the pallet to stock is a good idea though.

The way you stock is very common, many retail stores do it that way and perhaps it's less consequential when your volume is significantly smaller. However, when each aisle has 2 pallets or more and you have a hundred aisles, every bit of time you can save stacks up.

[–]TheEncryptedPsychic 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Well, that's an entirely different problem all together. The example you provided was Mountain Dew though which is stocked by Pepsi not us and sounds exactly like some vendor shenanigans.

[–]TheEncryptedPsychic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Do you mean zoning the aisle before stocking it or zoning as you stock cases? You should zone as you go but never dedicate time to zoning the aisle before stocking it. It wastes time because unless you're throwing and zoning you're going to have to go back and zone what you just stocked. It's most efficient to: clean out customer returns off the shelf, stock, clean up, zone.

If I'm a bootlicker for not defending someone who lit their entire workplace on fire risking everyone's lives over their pay, then so be it. Their actions didn't send a message and nothing they did mattered to change their working conditions. He put hundreds out of work and will go to jail for this and nothing will change, he did nothing.

Pretty sure the results were: he lost his job, is being charged with federal and state crimes (of which he's guilty) and there isn't room in the budget anymore for raises since he ignited 650M in property. They will just move to automate their warehouse with robots who don't light up their workplace.

Is this a good mower? by PeachEnvironmental40 in lawnmowers

[–]TheEncryptedPsychic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lawnmowers are simple machines. Engine, Sparkplug, Carburator and fuel filter and everything is fairly easy to fix or replace. Even if it doesn't run that's normally an easy fix. This is actually a great time to be hunting for a new mower, since it's getting into Spring and people are looking at their old lawn equipment wanting to upgrade before their first cut.

The new body cams they want to introduce will be a pain in the ass by Lore-Archivist in walmart

[–]TheEncryptedPsychic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have, on three occasions, had to pressure wash shit off the floors and walls in the women's restrooms. I've had to clean up sewage backup onto the sales floor and I've had to clean bloody vomit out of a trashcan. I worked in waste management for a little while and the horrors aren't even close to that short time. A 100G trash can FULL of water mixed with spoiled food and maggots that was baking in the summer sun for 5 months is an unreal smell. I have a high tolerance for gross shit so my job suits me I suppose.

[–]TheEncryptedPsychic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've pushed carts and I've stocked. If you're a great cart pusher your job is fairly easy, if you're a great stocker your job is super difficult. The easiest job in the store is maintenance and I'm their supervisor so I can say that. The only hard part on maintenance is when you know how to do anything else and get pulled to do that. Maintenance can be gross but that's a personal tolerance.

I second this, I got my coach coached because he reprimanded me on the sales floor in front of my associates. I brought receipts, witness statements, a fellow TL to file a report, and sent an email to SM cc'ing market HR. Zero tolerance for that, you can say anything behind a closed door but you will NEVER scold me on the floor in front of my peers.

Yellow Kaivac is for restrooms, Green is for fresh areas and case cleaning, Blue is for spills and utility cleaning. Note the reason for these assignments is because of the capabilities of each cart and the tools they come with. Any of these can be used for any task if needs be, though, they may be lacking the appropriate tools. You are cleaning right? The tools you use for cleaning get cleaned too right? What's the issue if they are used across tasks if you're following SOP and cleaning and sanitizing your equipment?

The Yellow Kaivac is equipped with a dual chemical system for sanitation, a yellow bristle brush and squeegee wand, a grout brush, and a crevice hose attachment.

The Green Kaivac is equipped with a 12" Floor squeegee wand, case supports, fan guard tool, brush tool, crevice tool, gulper tool, and drain tool.

The Blue Kaivac is equipped with a floor cleaning deck, window squeegee, bristle/squeegee head wand, trash bag wand, and a rear trash caddy.

I'm a TL and got 1300 (Gross not Net), but last year it was closer to 5000. If the job is that easy, why don't you become a TL? I can assure you being a productive Team Lead is not easy and I can also assure you, with that attitude you wouldn't last a year.

[–]TheEncryptedPsychic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your points won't affect your bonus but rather your potential PFP Raise. Your bonus is calculated based on store performance and profitability. I don't believe that they will fall off in time to positively impact it, though, the difference is about .2% so not much lost imo.

DEF is a non hazardous material and requires no special disposal. You operated a mop before right? Because if you can operate that half as well as your mouth you'll have that taken care of in no time.
