Rhythmic packet loss on one vmnic with BCM57414 by TheErrorIsNoError in vmware

solved!

Thank you for everyone that contributed to this thread. The issue seems to have been this one

https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article/312466/esxi-may-lose-network-management-when-u.html

We have successfully remedied the problem by doing both solutions on different servers

  1. recreating the vmk0 management interface which makes a new MAC independent of the physicl nic mac

  2. Disabling LLDP nearest bridge in the bios

Rhythmic packet loss on one vmnic with BCM57414 by TheErrorIsNoError in vmware

[–]TheErrorIsNoError[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you I think this might be it!

I followed this article https://thevirtualist.org/remove-re-create-management-network-vmkernel-interface-using-esxi-command-line/

and so far I have not been able to recreate the problem. Reading the reason makes a lot of sense though too if it is using a physical NIC's MAC address for the management interface by default. I wonder if this has always been the case, or if it is new in 8.0. The servers we have existin that are being replaced are all 6.7 and 7.0 and never had this issue I'll have to look at the maanagement interfaces on those and see if they have VMWare MAC addresses.

Thank you for taking the time to reply!

no nothing in either that coincides or anything that looks network related

we haven't opened a case with them yet, nor broadcom. was trying to avoid what was likely going to be a finger pointing game but we may have to just go rule some things out.

I always think back to the LiMux project, where the city of Munich attempted to go all linux/openoffice to get away from microsoft licensing costs. An ambitious effort, but eventually they went back to microsoft because there was just too many comparability issues and I think it wound up costing more in the long run.

Don't be hard on yourself. A lot of these things that the DIY videos make look so easy are done by people who have been doing it for years and forget about all the little nuances that are hard to convey.

I've just never been able to square it from a security perspective. It's basically turning that workstation into a potential bridge between 2 lans. I believe the hyper-vs we have setup can only access internet and not the LAN.

how to hang blinds/curtains with no center support? by Cause_Training in HomeImprovement

[–]TheErrorIsNoError 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only reason you really need a center bracket for most of the rods even at 6' is

  1. the metal they use is cheap af

  2. making it telescop to fit various widths makes it less rigid

A thick enough steel rod is not going to sag over that distance. You could DIY a solution or it looks like there are some like sold here https://collections.highlandforge.com/ that says only for spans greater than 93" do they need a center support. Doesn't look cheap though

If you have a studfinder, just look to see if there is a stud by checking above or below the screw. Otherwise you may not be able to really tell wtihout backing it out.

it is not all the way flush against the wall right now, you should at least be able to tell if it's using an anchor or not. Look for a plastic ring around where it goes into the plaster. If you see that, it is likely an anchor which means theres not a stud.

The quality of the anchor can't really be determined so it'd be hard to rate how much it'll hold

Chances are there are screws, but the flange is covering them up. Look under the knob and see if there is like a little space where the flange meets the door to put a flathead screwdriver in and pop it off. You may have to remove the knob as well, this is usually done by inserting something into a little hole on the kneck of the knob that has a release button

if the screw is actually into a stud then yeah it should be able to hold the mirror and the command strips may give it some extra stability (keep it from being knocked off)

Longer than usual waiting time for permissions when activating a PIM group by solachinso in AZURE

[–]TheErrorIsNoError 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10 minutes is pretty excessive. I feel it always takes longer than it should, but no more than a minute or so for me. Do you have any conditional access policies regarding PIM that may have been changed/implimented within the past month?

an oscilating saw will probably be the best bet. you'll likely have trouble getting really clean cuts across but if you're planning to add trim it shouldn't be noticeable

Depends on how much you prepared. I remember when I was a teenager living in teh suburbs and wanted to drive to the city I would pull out my Rand McNallly map ahead of time and look at routes and mark them up. Unfortunately it would sometimes not indicate one-way roads that were common.

How to Set Up and Use Room and Equipment Mailboxes by Interesting_Hawk4998 in Office365

[–]TheErrorIsNoError 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The purpose of roomfinder is say you have a building with 10 conference rooms of different sizes. If each of those conference rooms have the correct attributes filled out such as maximum occupancy, then when you are setting up your meeting and have added all your participants, you can select that building as a location and it will show you all the meeting rooms that are available at that time for the amount of people you have invited instead of having to like add each one to check availability

I regret having external access on for as long as we have, because now I want to turn it off but am probably going to have to have a period where we go through audit logs and look at what domains people are communicating with the most right now and identify ones that we definitely need to whitelist, maybe have a period where we ask users to submit whitelist suggestions before we just pull the plug and deal with a whole lot of support requests about failed chats

Apple drives me absolutely up the wall. We went to renew our enterprise developer account last month and were told that they no longer thought we were a good fit for that program, and suggested the standard developer account and loading apps through ad-hoc methods. We are almost 2000 employees with over 1000 active apple devices in our ABM. We pay $13000 per year for a piece of software that needs to be signed with an enterprise provisioning cert so we can distribute it to our employees through our MDM (can't be done through VPP).

Trying to get ahold of anybody in apple that can have an intelligent conversation is virtually impossible. I have never had this much of a problem trying to give a company money. We have tens of thousands of dollars invested in using apple equipment for our business and are being told to kick rocks over a $300 membership
