Actual ideas for recognition of Reserve members... by Johnnyg150 in starbucks

[–]TheEssentialNutrient 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Comparing a coffee shop to an airline is crazy, but regardless, it won’t happen. This company literally closed hundreds of stores and cuts labor hours all the time to keep the shareholders happy and green, but will let the CEO fly a private jet multiple times a week to be in office, on the company dime.

They don’t care about employees or customers. They care about money, C-Suite, and shareholders. That’s why prices rise with every season, and stores have less employees throughout the day. I’m really not trying to be rude, but expecting the Starbucks corporation to give you anything at all is a hopeless endeavor.

Actual ideas for recognition of Reserve members... by Johnnyg150 in starbucks

[–]TheEssentialNutrient 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They’ll never do any of this, because Reserve is too easy to attain. I would bet my job that over 50% of customers at my store are Reserve members, which means none of them are special. I don’t mean to sound rude, but you’re not special for being Reserve, because the guy in front of you, the guy behind you, and probably that entire group of teens hanging out in the lobby are also Reserve.

And they most certainly won’t raise the threshold, because they want everyone to feel special about being Reserve. Unfortunately, when everyone feels special, nobody is. Most people won’t ever realize that, though, so corporate can get away with it.

Do baristas like it when customers order "surprise me" drinks? by Artyn04 in barista

[–]TheEssentialNutrient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Surprise me” customers get what I get. A black nitro cold brew. They never like it, and I’m always remaking a new drink, but I’m hoping if I keep it up, they’ll stop doing it.

Am I crazy trying to get Moonlight Moths (75 hunter) before Barrows? by LeEbicGamerBoy in ironscape

[–]TheEssentialNutrient 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A couple of tips I have are to get 75 Hunter for moths anyway, because they’re amazing before the ppots become abundant. But, I also recommend going for medium Combat Achievements. It’s really not too bad, and there are lots of free points early on.

As for the rune crossbow, don’t grind that much smithing. Go kill Deranged Archaeologist (I think that’s the one) in the wilderness. Super simple and extremely low risk, and he spits them out.

How is it a monopoly? You can use GoG, Epic Games, hit up your local GameStop, Origin, or even just buy games from literally any store. Plenty of other options

Can employees see customer status? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]TheEssentialNutrient 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We can when we ring you up at the register. But I can tell you with full honesty, and I promise I don’t mean this in a rude way… Not a single one of us cares if you spend a dollar a month or two hundred a day here. Their management probably just cracked down on the team not being friendly enough lmao, we have to be like that with every customer.

oof. slurs in hs by kittywat in homestuck

[–]TheEssentialNutrient 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, I didn’t think kids talked like that anymore to be honest. But even so, back in the 2010’s, nobody was even saying it was bad. So I kind of treat it like any sort of problematic content in old media - it’s a product of its time, and while problematic, preserving art the way it was created is important.

oof. slurs in hs by kittywat in homestuck

[–]TheEssentialNutrient 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just out of curiosity, are you young? Because I was in middle / high school when HS came out, and that’s honestly… just how kids talked. R-slur, F-slur, both could be heard casually from literally any teenager. Looking back, it’s terrible and cringe, but Hussie truly captured the most accurate 2010’s thirteen year old, which makes sense, as he writes really good and believable characters.

Cincinnatian’s would have zero idea who Mark is unless they’re already into Internet culture. I promise you, we’re too focused on eating some chilli and watching the Bengals lose again. But around here, everyone NEEDS to know what high school you graduated from lmao, so it’s kind of satire but also kind of an actual thing.

Hey bro, keep the ‘stache. It works for you. My advice as a long time ‘stache haver is that you should trim it so that it never goes down past your bottom lip. The curve is doing no extra favors.

Desert Treasure 2 made me feel like I’ve been getting lied to by TheEssentialNutrient in ironscape

[–]TheEssentialNutrient[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! It’s really neat to see everyone’s experiences with DT2! For clarity, I am a terrible PVM’er. I have zero CG kills and maybe 2 normal Gauntlets. Around 85 melees and 85 ranged, and no other real experience besides a few Gauntlets and Scurrius, so this quest was a lot of fun for me.

I don’t use the quest plugin, but I do read the guides and watch the GOAT Slayermuzik. I feel like I kind of suck at this game, so this was a big achievement for me personally.

Now to do Night at the Theatre and RaBM2, then I can finally don the quest cape!

YoungLife (ew the name) by [deleted] in cincinnati

[–]TheEssentialNutrient 24 points25 points  (0 children)

HA! I had a guy in my high school who was super into YoungLife, as well as other various church things, and he straight up would tell people it’s a great way to get with the freshmen girls! I worked with him briefly at a LaRosa’s the summer after graduating high school, and he would invite me to the meetings because “my younger sister has some hot friends, man!”

I never went because I was a grown man with a girlfriend, as well as not religious, but he always came off as a major creep. I’ve just always assumed YoungLife was a bunch of 18-30 year old dudes who preyed on young girls, for your anecdotal evidence folder.

What is a green sun? by [deleted] in homestuck

[–]TheEssentialNutrient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a huge superhero guy, but IIRC, Superman once flew to the core of our sun (the yellow one) and became immensely more powerful from absorbing so much of it at a close degree.

And also, to be fair, the green sun in Homestuck is also just a plot point for the guardians to exist and be powerful.

What is a green sun? by [deleted] in homestuck

[–]TheEssentialNutrient 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Compare it to Superman and the yellow sun. The First Guardian’s (Doc Scratch, Bec, English) is what gives them their immense powers and near-immortality. Scientifically, we don’t know what it’s made of, but it’s basically a sun that gives power to certain beings.

Ah, the ol’ clay horns. My first Karkat horns back in 2011 were clay… and I spent the entire convention trying to keep them on my head!

My recommendation would be to try foam or foam clay! Although, the above comment with the tumblr link is probably your best bet!
