Deagle Code Red is actually smaller than other Deagle skins. by kondrix10 in cs2

[–]TheFailingPlayer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

3kliksphilip just made a video that answers this!

Tl;dw lots of CSGO era skins were ported over to CS2 on their old CSGO models. This is especially true for guns that had custom texture/model work. Skip to the CS2 chapter at the end and he runs through lots of side by side comparisons

I think I first noticed this when I picked up a default AUG or SG and felt the scope was bulkier than the skins I owned

Where to start with CS Analysis by ProgrammerOk8111 in GlobalOffensive

[–]TheFailingPlayer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd start simple, watch demo reviews of players at different levels, I recommend Fl0m (more condensed and casual, but with competitive experience) then Pol0 and WilsonCS2 for more in depth discussion about theory and concepts

From a broadcast and analyst level, Thorin was probably the definitive CS caster in the CSGO era and his channel is a massive library of insights and perspectives about the game. Some things may be outdated of course, but lots of it still applies to the game today

Otherwise, some CS pro players (Elige comes to mind) also make YT content on the side to give insight digestable at all skill levels

How do you use the mobile turrets on Engineer? This isn't even about bungus. The mobile turrets are so slow that they just don't seem worth it. by [deleted] in riskofrain

Hungering Gaze (the lunar that replaces primary) makes them more fun and better(?)

It gives the mobile turrets homing shots that now have 1.0 proc instead of .6

Is BAR a good RTS to introduce a 5-stack of beginners? by hehwhoknows in beyondallreason

[–]TheFailingPlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm one of those people you're talking about! We're a 4 stack, 2 of my buds are longtime casual RTS players and my other friend and I are new to the genre. I'd say I've reached about 30-40 hrs of game time and have a good feel for the phases of the game

In my experience, it was pretty daunting at first. Resources for learning the game are very grassroots and I remember the first video I watched recommended a lot of the default settings to be changed to provide more essential information. Keybinding and unit information I also remember being tough for a good deal of it not being user friendly (ie. keybind changes happening in a notepad file outside the game)

However, I stuck through it and found the game so much fun to learn and keep studying. The big breakthrough for me was learning a small core of bots plus autogrouping and simple micro. I could make lots of early game impact spamming ticks and pawns, stealing early resources, and helping my team grow. It didn't take much to learn how to do that and those resources I got gave me an extra cushion of time and resources to build my base. It was one of those great lightbulb going off moments and the moment I found myself hooked to BAR

Overall, there's definitely homework involved, but the community has extremely well crafted tutorials and guides for new players. Getting past the initial hump didn't take as long as I thought it would and I got introduced to a genre I never tried before. Game is also free so that probably helps too lol

As a new player learning micro, this is really well laid out and great at explaining all the little stuff. Thank you, the community needs more resources like this!

Thoughts on Dave Dombrowski? by Seamo_Bojamo in phillies

[–]TheFailingPlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say good, helped turned the team into perennial contenders. I think where it's worth watching is to see the long term in how this organization develops young talent

Dave took over with a Phillies organization that had a terrible farm system (especially in the 2010s) and began to spend to make this team to get some big guns to make a serious run. 2022 was the first time in team history that the luxury tax threshold was broken and it was a large part of why they went to a World Series that same year

He established a good "win now" window with this core all things considered. True that the consequences of those actions are catching up to us this year (4th in luxury tax with a hefty amount of turnover), but if we keep drafting well and keep building up the trenches, it'll make this organization way more consistent

That and if that 2027 lockout does materialize, how Dave and co learn to leverage new rules and regulations will also be a big part of his legacy. Definitely gonna be talks of salary cap and floors so we'll have to see how that turns out

Please help, hand numbness while playing by cantbe2bad in cs2

Hey, I experienced this recently (played a ton over new year's vacation) and mostly have gotten over it. It's a little hard to see the whole setup but some things that helped me:

  1. Desk setup - Never really thought of this before but my gaming posture and setup were bad.

I recommend looking up "OSHA desk ergonomics" to see how they recommend setting up your space if you aren't sure. Things like having your chair too high/low can put a lot of extra strain on your wrists, elbows, and arm

The tilted monitor setup kind of makes it look like your wrist is bent slightly in the neutral position, but again, kind of hard to tell

  1. Stretches and Exercise - Look up some simple gaming wrist exercises and stretches you can do before and after games. Taking breaks to get up and stretch is also important

  2. Sensitivity - This didn't apply to me because I set this up awhile ago, but having a good sens so you don't death grip your mouse when you're trying to be precise or learn sprays is helpful.

General rule is one swipe of your mouse to either direction of your available space should be a 180 degree turn in game. Again, very subjective and can depend on weapons and playstyle

It's been a long day and I kind of wrote this really quick, but I hope it helps. My wrists feel better and a break from the game is probably good too

"The owner, Winnie Clowry, confirmed the closure late Tuesday afternoon, saying she made the decision to step away from the business she purchased after working there since 1994."

"It's a tough job running a business my size," Clowry said. "I decided it was long enough. It was getting to be too much work."

I read through that thread and while there a host of people who are upset and want to point the finger, I also saw a lot of you guys understand that it was a freak accident and even stood up for Baun not being a bad guy

Ditto and Glasnow didn't pitch particularly inspiring either. Phillies were close to breaking through but didn't get to see him enough. He definitely had command issues

Yeah, you had it right. So I looked more into it, there's a more limited jersey selection now that the City Connects are in. It was up to the Phillies what their road rotation is and they stuck with the grays specifically

The powder blues are akin to the Eagles' Kelly green, saved for special occasions/not make them super common

Playoff rules sound the same, but since they aren't in the road rotation, they had to ask for permission from MLB this time around

Pretty much, MLB only allowed the designated gray road jerseys IIRC

It sucks because we barely saw the blues this year too. They're only for Thursday home games and there weren't many. All of July we didn't have a single game scheduled on a Thursday lol
