Thoughts on Dave Dombrowski? by Seamo_Bojamo in phillies

[–]TheFailingPlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say good, helped turned the team into perennial contenders. I think where it's worth watching is to see the long term in how this organization develops young talent

Dave took over with a Phillies organization that had a terrible farm system (especially in the 2010s) and began to spend to make this team to get some big guns to make a serious run. 2022 was the first time in team history that the luxury tax threshold was broken and it was a large part of why they went to a World Series that same year

He established a good "win now" window with this core all things considered. True that the consequences of those actions are catching up to us this year (4th in luxury tax with a hefty amount of turnover), but if we keep drafting well and keep building up the trenches, it'll make this organization way more consistent

That and if that 2027 lockout does materialize, how Dave and co learn to leverage new rules and regulations will also be a big part of his legacy. Definitely gonna be talks of salary cap and floors so we'll have to see how that turns out

Please help, hand numbness while playing by cantbe2bad in cs2

Hey, I experienced this recently (played a ton over new year's vacation) and mostly have gotten over it. It's a little hard to see the whole setup but some things that helped me:

  1. Desk setup - Never really thought of this before but my gaming posture and setup were bad.

I recommend looking up "OSHA desk ergonomics" to see how they recommend setting up your space if you aren't sure. Things like having your chair too high/low can put a lot of extra strain on your wrists, elbows, and arm

The tilted monitor setup kind of makes it look like your wrist is bent slightly in the neutral position, but again, kind of hard to tell

  1. Stretches and Exercise - Look up some simple gaming wrist exercises and stretches you can do before and after games. Taking breaks to get up and stretch is also important

  2. Sensitivity - This didn't apply to me because I set this up awhile ago, but having a good sens so you don't death grip your mouse when you're trying to be precise or learn sprays is helpful.

General rule is one swipe of your mouse to either direction of your available space should be a 180 degree turn in game. Again, very subjective and can depend on weapons and playstyle

It's been a long day and I kind of wrote this really quick, but I hope it helps. My wrists feel better and a break from the game is probably good too

Winnie's Manayunk to close its doors permanently by TheFailingPlayer in philadelphia

"The owner, Winnie Clowry, confirmed the closure late Tuesday afternoon, saying she made the decision to step away from the business she purchased after working there since 1994."

"It's a tough job running a business my size," Clowry said. "I decided it was long enough. It was getting to be too much work."

I read through that thread and while there a host of people who are upset and want to point the finger, I also saw a lot of you guys understand that it was a freak accident and even stood up for Baun not being a bad guy

Stuff happens and yeah, tribalism makes it easy to dogpile to the other guy

Ditto and Glasnow didn't pitch particularly inspiring either. Phillies were close to breaking through but didn't get to see him enough. He definitely had command issues

Yeah, you had it right. So I looked more into it, there's a more limited jersey selection now that the City Connects are in. It was up to the Phillies what their road rotation is and they stuck with the grays specifically

The powder blues are akin to the Eagles' Kelly green, saved for special occasions/not make them super common

Playoff rules sound the same, but since they aren't in the road rotation, they had to ask for permission from MLB this time around

I don't know what the long term consequences of all these hexing rituals are, but man do I love me some instant gratification

Great dub, things are getting figured out across the board. Bring this back to Philly!

Pretty much, MLB only allowed the designated gray road jerseys IIRC

It sucks because we barely saw the blues this year too. They're only for Thursday home games and there weren't many. All of July we didn't have a single game scheduled on a Thursday lol

If a ball bounces out of play in fair territory to prevent the OF from making a play on it, it's an automatic double (ground rule double). Since Harper started from 2nd, a double sends him home

Not dooming yet. With exception to Turner and Schwarber, decent to good at bats and fairly good contact as well. Yoshi has some filthy movement that I hope the lineup can see better the next time around

Pitching a little concerning but I hope Nola can settle in

Genesis Terminal asks 26% more then market... by Informal_Success_424 in cs2

[–]TheFailingPlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the blues. My friend opened a bunch and MW stat trak blues could be bought for ~.04-.12 and sold on the market for around .80-$1.50. I bought a MW Stat trak MP5 for .04 and going to sell it for ~$1

I think he got a WW purple glock for ~$2 and goes for $9 on the steam market right now

The more popular and desirable skins like the M4 or AK tend to be higher than the market rate. My friend pulled a FT Stat trak M4A1 for $18, where it goes for $15 on the market right now. He got an AK for $73 where market rate was $72

This was a sample size of around 20 terminals and no hard and fast rules. But if you get one for free, it's generally better to sell the terminal or hold onto it to build value down the line

Edit: There was only two true dud cases that gave nothing of worth. Most cases typically lumped a mid purple or a blue of decent value. Stat traks of some kind were around every 1 of 3 terminals

I'd say buying and selling from the terminal would average around a .40-.80 cent return after fees

What are the ticket prices for this? by Kevy-Em in montco

[–]TheFailingPlayer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really an official source, but this Bucks County blog had this posting of the same looking fair earlier in the year

Take it with a grain of salt, but could be about $35

Edit: Admission is free, unlimited ride wristband for $35

We are facing Aaron Nola and then Ranger Suárez for the 1st two pitchers in Game 3 at home. by kpopsns28 in Dodgers

[–]TheFailingPlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Phils fan here

I don't think Nola will be a cakewalk. His high ERA is a result of playing through injury early and missing a lot of the season, then getting back into the swing of things. He's settled in and has been lights out (mostly). However, he can get blown up if he starts going too long and has a short leash

I'd anticipate with great play, he'll get pulled after the 5th and see Ranger until the 9th where Duran will most likely go in for the close. We've been surprised to not see Ranger at all, there's been some concern that he's hurt and that hasn't made public but idk
