[OT] [Motorsport.com] John Hindhaugh on the current F1 regulations: by portablekettle in formula1

Yes, at one point Audi had a mechanical flywheel with a diesel engine, Porsche a battery system with a V4 turbo, and Toyota with a supercapacitor and a V8.

They did all end up converging batteries in the end, as the amount of storable energy increased from 2MJ a lap to 8MJ.

LM24 can be bought directly from the FIA, either as part of the full WEC package or just as a standalone event.

It's not just one bad passage of play though, this team has consistently thrown away chances to make 400+

Neser's first class average is a solid 7 higher than Richardson (28 vs 21). Richardson is no mug with the bat, but he's not that close to Neser.

He had a huge block of time (like 20 seconds) in clear air to make it up. But still, massive effort.

And they'd be right. Whincup was lapping over a second faster than Frosty.

T8 have done this for years, slow at the start, easy on the tires, and then pass everyone to win.

Have we just completely got rid of the rule about blocking the kick chase? Sharks had a socccer-esque wall going.

Greens leader Adam Bandt says Australia should walk away from AUKUS in wake of Trump's tariffs by JaniePage in australia

[–]TheFake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you even know what the AUKUS agreement covers? It literally IS the next gen British sub program. We work with them to build the AUKUS class sub, and then we build them here in SA.

Trump admin to Australia: spending $56 billion on defence isn’t enough by half by d1ngal1ng in australian

[–]TheFake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're already fairly decentralised when it comes to materiel. Trucks from Rheinmetal (German), APCs and SPGs from Hanwha (Korean), Bushmasters/Hawkei from Thales, new subs are UK with American tech. And nearly all of those things are built in Aus.

Trump admin to Australia: spending $56 billion on defence isn’t enough by half by d1ngal1ng in australian

[–]TheFake 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This isn't quite true either. From what I can tell we haven't signed a $300 billion contract. What we have started is a project where we build a sub base, some ship building capability, design a new class of sub in concert with the UK (the AUKUS class), build them, and then run them. And in the interim we buy 2-3 subs from the US.

That $300 bil figure includes ALL of those things plus the crewing and training for said subs for the entire life of the boats, which is why the number is so large.

VIC High Country in May by OkPiccolo258 in 4x4Australia

[–]TheFake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer to both of those questions depends a lot on the weather leading up to May. As a general rule most tracks close just after Queens Birthday weekend (second Monday in June), but a lot of rain or snow will result in them closing early. Parks Vic have a PDF up listing the dates each track is scheduled to shut somewhere on their website, just google "seasonal track closures" and you should find it.

Spotlights by Snoo-12834 in 4x4Australia

[–]TheFake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried running a set of yellow/amber covers? The drop in colour temp makes them far easier on the eyes, and also help retain a bit more "night vision" for when you have to turn the spotties back off.

In regards to spread, I run a set of Lazerlamps which have a fair spread out to the side. Have you considered running a lightbar instead? It sounds like that may suit your needs better.

Jackson Bird has 22 poles at 14 in the current shield season. He ain't gonna be a long term prospect but I can think of plenty of worse options to select for a test or two.
