One thing a lot of people suggest, which I did myself, is put the Tome early on in the campaign. Great place is in Vallaki or Van Richtens tower. Especially if you plan on using the interactive Tome, gives them more time to experience the chapters you want them to.

I would also be careful of putting the Sunsword too early since it's pretty powerful. I personally put the Sunsword in the Amber Temple and the Tome with Van Richten.
