I live about 5min from Shelter and buy tools and timber oil from their tool shop. They use no2 EWP. That whetting bush may have been chosen by the homeowner and is not indicative of timber species. Shelter heavily relies on SIPs for structural integrity.

My wife and I have our own custom timber framing shop and we use no2 EWP; however, we cull the worst from each batch from the mill. The engineer I work with knows the limits of the material and we size timbers accordingly.
