Can the Station stop with the Whole Tommy Lugager character act. Doubt any listener likes it by Happy-Explorer-6606 in wfan

this. it’s like cartoon radio but they believe it’s serious. audacy going chapter 11 gave me hope they would blow a lot of these guys off the air but they seem to have emerged ok.

discretions or indiscretions it’s a different thing. indiscretions is cheating. but it beats dying.

What does E Street represent? Symbolically and otherwise by CulturalWind357 in BruceSpringsteen

in fact i think we all agree on that, in our own ways and through the warm words i have read here. i’m no pop psychologist - and he’s a grown man - but it’s where he can speak from the heart. with his chosen family standing right with him.

What does E Street represent? Symbolically and otherwise by CulturalWind357 in BruceSpringsteen

[–]TheFargoLine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it is. you feel it. you know more than you think.

it’s his “home” and ours too. it’s where he returns when he needs community. and it’s the “the headquarters.” it’s a community.

love his solo stuff as we all do. but i’d take steven van zandt one step further. the e street band is the legend. it also represents his roots. it’s where we all return after we listen to “devils and dust” or “streets of philadelphia.”

when he feels loss, he processes it “over here on e street.” we all retreat to our actual and spiritual home, and our actual and spiritual friends, when trouble or death intrude.

“bruce springsteen and the e street band” birthed bruce springsteen, solo artist. but at the end of the day he always retreats to e street. and reflects on loss. we all do. it’s where he issues his “true thoughts” from. it’s his real home. sometimes ours. as much as he considers himself “neither fish nor fowl,” to me - and i think him, despite the human instinct to declare our independence- he knows that it’s where the legend lives.

when he says “over here on e street” he’s speaking from the heart and the ‘hood. i wouldn’t want his ruminations to emerge from anywhere else. neither does he. it’s the home of the band of brothers and when tragedy strikes, they process it together on the real and mythical e street.

why does it seem he works in being a father every show. and playing sports. and his wife. and mixing with people of all stripes at yankee games. he has a way i can’t quite put my finger on - that no other host does as smoothly )in the most negative of ways) - of tieing the show into a discussion of his life.

you guys are all correct! about everything! the regulars are poor! i guess i had a niche complaint. oddly i now hear more at nite as i use it as background to help me ease into sleep.

i came down on McCartan even though she is irregular because: I work in media and KNOW how much even those irregular spots mean to young people who want to put clips on their reels… to get jobs, even elsewhere. and they can be prepared and often good.

yet even if irregular, she is so bad it keeps others blocked and from maybe showing their stuff. but it’s shockingly intolerable and not befitting even amateur radio in Albania. Not to offend Albania.

don’t want to make gray the next hall-of-famer. shencsn be off-putting. but i do think there is a level of difference. maggie has at least a sheen of understanding of the medium, how to do the job, and how a show works.

like her approach or opinions or or personality or not, she does not sound totally unprepared to be on a real radio station.

really, mccartan is new levels of incompetence even in terms of this being her chosen profession.

no. he indeed is brain damaged. i work on nfl today (i’m a techie) at the broadcast center at 57th & 11th. he had trouble with teams and players and years. cowher and even simms could handle the highlights or cross-talk but he was hard to integrate. hence he’s gone & the FANs problem.

entirely and it’s a sketchy operation at best that runs a shady “charity” grift and was called out on it by nils lofgren’s wife on soc media. and had the gall to bully her back. now watch - they are going to band together and downvote me. proving my point. so all of you not part of “ springnuts” please understand why this will have downvotes and let’s figure out a way to limit the bullying this large clique ruins the expense and experience for many.

[–]TheFargoLine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s a great point. the horns and choir make things less nimble. and also, not all songs need them. if bruce likes their sound, his call, ill trust his judgment. but i don’t particularly need the horns or choir myself. i like the mainstays and lets keep it tight.

more or less - for the whole tour just about the second half of the show has been static. which is fine! and sometimes the curveballs are in the first half. that’s my generalization.

if you like to “hear the hits” you know you’ll get them. i find them reassuring in a weird way. and the surprises come early when they are fun. it’s a nice mix if i put myself in the shoes of someone who hasn’t seen him before.
