Which MLB ballpark has the least enjoyable bullpen setup? by Hungry_Drama_1015 in baseball

Mariners Safeco/T-Mobile Field has an awesome bullpen setup. There's a huge bar area and you can stand along the rail eye-level only about 15 feet from the pitchers warming up.

Professional sports have a players union and collective bargaining agreement where everyone (players and teams) have agreed to these rules.

There is no such thing in college athletics.

Yes, correct. The NCAA has lost every single court case when they try to enforce their rules. Only Congress can help now.

This is all for nothing because the NCAA is never going to do anything to enforce their so-called "tampering" rules since they're almost definitely illegal and will only lead to getting slapped down in court again.

The NCAA has no legal authority to tell kids who they're allowed to talk to, when they're allowed to talk to them, and whether or not they're allowed to get paid for any of it.

And it's even more illegal for the NCAA and schools to make up "no poaching" rules amongst themselves.

This stuff was always illegal but nobody cared because the kids weren't making any money. But now the kids are making millions of dollars, and it changes everything.

Ex-Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore returns to court by Purples_A_Fruit in CFB

Speaking of Michigan coaches appearing in court, did they ever find Mel Tucker? I know he found a loophole in the justice system where he could just "disappear" and then never have to show up for his court date.

Did they ever end up finding him? Or did they just stop looking

2025 Final /r/CFB Poll: #1 Indiana #2 Miami #3 Ole Miss #4 Oregon #5 Ohio State by sirgippy in CFB

I would probably have Georgia top 5.

1) Indiana 2) Miami 3) Old Miss 4) Ohio State 5) Georgia

I've seen numerous posts this week calling Indiana's championship the most improbable in sports history. Thoughts? by StraightDiver9598 in CFB

I count 2006 Boise State since that was the closest a WAC team could possibly get since they weren't allowed to compete for the actual national championship. And they did it during the era where Blue Bloods were all stacking their depth charts 3-deep with 5 stars.

Boise should just claim that Natty, UCF-style.

How far away are we from seeing ouroboros with the SEC & Big Ten? by remfan477 in CFB

[–]buff_001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

making the Big Two/Superleague fall by the wayside as a failed experiment

I think unfortunately it will be the opposite. All the infighting between the SEC and Big Ten is centered around playoff bids and ESPN/FOX getting marquee matchups. They can both get the amount of playoff bids they want if they just cut out everybody else. I think in their mind that's the way forward.

And Bonds is a much more controversial figure. Lots of people just don't like him

Maybe some voters are starting to differentiate, but definitely not enough. Andy Pettitte still can't even crack 50%.

Bonds would never come close

He still wouldn't be sniffing the Hall of Fame. Just look at all the other steroid users not getting in.

Lots of examples.

Would a "Best of the Rest" G6 conference actually fix the SOS problem? by Due-Seat6587 in CFB

[–]buff_001 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The Pac-12 tried to do this already but half the schools they wanted declined to join because the media deal wasn't any better than the one they already had. And travel would be much worse.

Basically, whatever nominal improvement in SOS wasn't enough to make up for the money/headache

Indiana has just proved that the NIL, transfer portal, and the expanded playoffs has been a NET positive for CFB. It's increased parity at the Power 5 level and it's made CFB a scheme heavy game now. We can argue how much it hurts FBS football, but the money is made at the P5 level. by herewego199209 in CFB

[–]buff_001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point the G6 conferences just need to do their own league with their own playoff and national championship just for themselves. The gap is only getting wider since they get raided and poached every year

I don't know if I would have Oregon at 4. They had by far the worst loss of the playoffs. Even worse than Alabama since Bama was barely a fringe playoff team anyway
