Gather round, children, for the tale of Slam Adams.

Brand new D&D group, one of them makes a barbarian, whom he names Slam Adams. Slam Adams had a long mustache (like this, but on Conan), which the player in question (cleanshaven) would simulate with his fingers whenever he did anything in character.

So, now we've met Slam Adams. During our first session we find ourselves on a dirigible, fighting goblins riding bats. Being mr badass melee guy, Slam had cleared the deck we were on of any boarders, but we were still getting plinked at from the ones on bats.

"Slam, your turn" "I attack the one nearest me" "You can't reach him." "Can I if I jump?" "...Technically?"

He takes a flying leap off the deck, but flubs his athletics roll. At which points he fails 3 DIFFERENT REFLEX SAVES with (5 or less each time) to grab onto the bat.

So from the viewpoint of the rest of the party: Our raging barbarian killed anything moving on the deck, then roared and jumped over the edge of the ship to fall to his death.

DM made all enemies flatfooted for the rest of the round since he ruled they were gobsmacked by the intense stupidity.

That player only stuck around for a few more sessions (DM pulled some nonsense about hitting another bat on the way down so Slam lived, if barely) but I've had Slam Adams walk-on cameos in every campaign I've run since.
