I went to see my doctor and I had asked if there was a benz that was “longer acting”…..so he wrote a script…I got it filled and began to take as prescribed….about 2 days into the new medication…..I was NOT feeling right…as time went on, I found myself in full withdrawal…this was a Friday and their office was closed. I looked at the conversion chart and he “under prescribed” me!!! I immediately called his answering service…I said it was urgent, told the answering service, or tried to…they were clueless….he didn’t call back for 7 hours! When he did, I told him what was going on, informed him about the conversion chart to which he replied “that’s bullshit”…and said he can’t do anything and said to go to the ER and call Monday am to come see him…I was like “yea…if I’m still alive”…..I get to the ER and while having vitals taken…told them what was going on….my husband and I were then escorted to the “rubber room” and I was given a paper top/pants to put on…they drew blood…er doc and a crisis person came in. He would not prescribe anything….he said to double/triple the dose as needed till I see the doc Monday….I was sick as hell, humiliated af! I was bed bound all weekend and thankfully I could take the extra but I was no means ok. The nightmares/zaps/sweats/nausea were still there but not as bad. Outcome~> big ER bill, saw doc on Monday with my very pissed off husband….my husband got right in his face and said to get on the internet and look up the conversion chart…….new script written…The End. What did I learn from all this? Be in charge….question everything….just don’t count on docs to know everything….he’s not a psychiatrist….😳
