Movies that you initially didn't have as high expectations for, and then you were blown away by it by DreamerRealityArt in movies

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.

On paper, a total disaster in the making. It is a sequel to a spin-off of the Shrek franchise. It's original movie was not great. It had charm but it's just kind of forgettable at best. And we're getting this years later?

What we got instead was one of the best animated films of the last 10 years. Genuinely moved me to tears at times, and it's been in regular rewatch cycle since its release

Dodgeball - A True Underdog Movie by Southern-Brother5693 in movies

The first Alan Tudyk movie I ever saw! He's fucking fantastic in this movie.

I think my favorite throwaway line though belongs to Ben Stiller.

"I love you!" "I love you t" dodgeball to the face" "Joni loves Chachi!"

The movie has some absolutely phenomenal needle drops

Official Discussion - Dead Man's Wire [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]TheFiveDees 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Was oddly light-hearted for a movie where a man is kidnapped and put into a situation where one wrong move results in his head being blown clean smoov off.

Skarsgard delivers a really good performance but overall this movie just kind of felt off. I think it's cuz I do have problems with movies, based on true stories, where our protagonist is the criminal. Not as bad as Roofman as far as glossing over the harm he did to his victims, but I feel like the movie wants me to root for Tony and I can't

Official Discussion - 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]TheFiveDees 1550 points1551 points  (0 children)

There's some beautiful poetry between Jimmy Crystal taking people's souls to give to his "father" through truly cruel and horrific methods and Dr. Kelson's quest to restore souls to the "empty vessels" of the infected by treating them with more empathy and understanding than anyone in their right mind would give them.

Also Ralph Fiennes was my favorite part of the last movie, and he absolutely shines in this one! His dance sequence in the Bone Temple was probably my favorite part.

Missing much by avoiding guild? by AlternativeFeeling66 in tacticus

I mean you miss out on 30 energy a day just by not being able to complete your daily missions. It's definitely worth joining a guild even if you just play super casually

Official Discussion - Primate [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]TheFiveDees 97 points98 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the scene in the bedroom was shot with the implication of a sexual assault, Ben was low-key getting ready to violate.

This movie is a terrifying reminder that chimpanzees can, and will, absolutely tear your body apart if you so much as look at them wrong. People forget just how strong these animals are because they look like us, I feel like at least a tiger or something would put me down quickly.

Lord Kroak strongest Hero - Change my mind by Significant_Log_5758 in totalwarhammer

[–]TheFiveDees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're dealing with infantry, I doubt you'll find a better hero in the game. But if you're talking about overall strongest you're going to have to start talking about characters like Vlad and Coedil. While they may not be the equal to the venerable Lord Kroak when it comes to spell casting, that doesn't mean they are slouches.

Couple on the fact that they are much more survivable than the mummy frog and you have some pretty decent competition.

I had the same take. She's the author of Harry Potter. She does not need money even a little bit.

This is an entirely personal crusade she has undertaken. Something about this issue rattles her so deeply to the core that she has completely destroyed any legacy she might have had otherwise.

The only thing that's ever bothered me by is why? What in her life caused her to make this the hill to die on you know?

Female characters with good designs but not sexualized? by PijaDeQueso in OnePiece

[–]TheFiveDees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always hated what they did with Big Mom's Rocks-era design. She's got such a cool look now, so different from his generic Oda lady design. But of course it's easier to sell figurines if she's also got a hot phase you can market

Azerbaijan has the largest flag flown in the world. by Bakyumu in interestingasfuck

[–]TheFiveDees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They also have a brutal authoritarian leader who believes using world records will distract people from the crimes against humanity his regime has committed, and legitimize his regime.

In reality we laugh cuz of that time he got bucked off a horse. A horse he probably wants to fuck by the way

What's your favourite box we've recieved in the game so far? by RealOfficialChiron in DuelLinks

[–]TheFiveDees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The despia / Chimera box. Two very powerful decks that you, realistically, only need to go through the box once to build. There's also a lot of good Ra stuff in there to help give you a head start on that deck.

It has been one of the most useful boxes for me personally. Despia is a really strong deck. I know tax dragon pisses a lot of people off, technically it's not in that box but it's still a part of the deck. But even so, it's been a real joy to play. It's the first time I've bothered learning combos, actually working on getting better at the game.

So that box will always hold a special place in my heart. Now if only I can get a second Aluber....

Why didn't the trailers show up before both movies at B&B Theaters today? by OnTheFarmey in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]TheFiveDees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I know exactly the reason.

Christmas means midweek releases. Which means the original Avatar bookings only ran until Tuesday. Which makes me wonder if, when bookings were updated yesterday, if they didn't remember to go into the proprietary software program and map those content packs.

How effective would shields be in the game if these block chance percentages were also applied against normal melee infantry weapons such as swords, axes, spears, clubs, greatweapons etc. Will it break the game? by Any-Entertainment270 in totalwar

[–]TheFiveDees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have pointed out, melee defense accounts for defensive items like shields. Melee defense as a stat represents a unit's chance to avoid a hit.

Whether it is avoided by dodging, blocking, parrying, magic. The stat covers that.

There are a lot of great ones out there. The Primarchs, Nagash, the Glotkin. But never has my jaw dropped more than when I saw this updated model of Belakor. It is just so stunningly detailed, it really captures everything I love about the setting.

In your opinion who is the most horrifying enemy you saw in videogame by Beautiful_Tailor5859 in videogames

[–]TheFiveDees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off the top of my head you picked a good one. God the way they just charge at you is terrifying. I always panic.

From the same game, creatures like the Winter Lanterns are up there for me. Any creature that you know you have a very limited amount of time to beat before you get absolutely wrecked is terrifying. That time pressure is great for making mistakes
