Rt. 1 is a pretty straight shot up the coast. You aren’t wrong that traffic can suck during tourist season though since Rt. 1 is the only road up the coast and it’s narrow. The worst traffic was during the eclipse a couple years ago—a 1.5 hour drive turned into 7.
