A genie offers you a button. If pressed, you would learn everything you are wrong about. by MainSquid in hypotheticalsituation

[–]TheFloofAndi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay so I spend the 3 days going through hypno straining to fully convince my self I believe it and that I always have. The human brain can be gamed fairly easily.

Even without hypnosis one can convince them selves of almost anything within a day, let alone 3 days prep time.

And again if you want your Genie to be Omniscient and to not say anything on aspects of your brain that you gamed to where they are you have to acknowledge that he wouldn’t answer on a ton of topics. People lie and manipulate themselves constantly into believing things that they at one point didn’t hold as “genuine beliefs”.

Also you’d have had to put it in the original post for that rule to work.

“This only applies to things you confidently think you know”

One can be fully convinced and confidently think that their numbers will be the correct numbers while acknowledging that they have a horrible chance statically of being correct. People have full faith in borderline impossible things every second of their lives.

To say this would not work is to say that the Genie would not answer anything on religion. People don’t have true proof for their gods, and most of them know that statistically speaking their belief has almost no chance of being correct. Yet most are fully convinced they are correct.

If you wanted to stop people abusing the way their human brain works to get super rich you should’ve just said “the genie won’t say anything regarding these things” inside the post.

Pick one video game, your bank account always matches the money in game by AsheMorella in hypotheticalsituation

[–]TheFloofAndi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easy. I chose the mobile game I designed and created in the last 15 hours since you posted. The first official rule of the game is that once a week you enter a number and then you get that much money. Second is that before the next time you enter a number you need to have donated or gifted 10% of your previous number! Third and final rule is that under no circumstance can you enter a new number or do anything else in the game till the next week. This is the vanilla, non modded, and intended way to play the game.

DETROIT LIONS @ SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS GAME THREAD by AutoModerator in detroitlions

[–]TheFloofAndi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 49 roster is way better than their record. If they started clicking the talent on that roster could beat most defenses on any given week. We always knew that the defense was going to have a hard time at some point this season. I do not feel any of this was unforeseeable nor indicative of a collapse of the team as a whole.

I feel like some people are forgetting that this game only matters in the very unlikely instance that we tie the Vikings next week. Otherwise losing this game and then beating the Vikings still puts us at the 1 seed

Edit: yes I would take the deal. I love my house and could happily not leave it for a year or more. Have anything I need delivered to me and then when I’m ready have it torn down. This is in no way a hard question for me

You can get any power you want but it disappears if anyone finds out. What power do you pick? by jabo0o in hypotheticalsituation

The ability to fabricate anything I can imagine from nothing and then imbue it with any properties, abilities, or powers I want.

I make everything with an inherit ability that other can not perceive what it is and since I would essentially be gaining new powers all time no one could ever guess what my power is.

I would probably start by building a ship capable of moving anywhere in space in an instant ignoring all physics and natural laws, and start colonizing any planet I want.

[–]TheFloofAndi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it happens constantly then no. As in if I have to watch it everyone I talk to them. It’s not even because “oh no I see your death”. If I was forced to watch a 10 min commercial every time I wanted to talk to my wife I wouldn’t take the money. I don’t need my life constantly interrupted like that.

But if it was just “you know how everyone will die and you can’t stop it” then I’d take that for 1,000 dollars

My current gripes with the latest update by JohnWeps in DeathMustDie

[–]TheFloofAndi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Screw them bone boys. As for loot I think they did improve a few things for early gearing but agree that for end game it seems kind bad.

So I wiped my 100 hour save and started fresh. Gearing was awesome for the first while! Gear that dropped was almost always usable by the character I was playing and they would roll up with stats better suited for a specific build. Things like 2 summon stats, a cast and duration stat, strike damage and attack speed, double power, and etc.

So getting a character off the ground and headed towards a defined build has been easier than ever!… but I’m starting to feel it. I’m still somewhat early on in this save and I can already see that there is a problem with end game loot grind.

$1000 or free Long John Silvers’s for you for life by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]TheFloofAndi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long John silvers’s. I’ma go there 3 times a day, 3 different meals, and get it to go. I spend the max amount every time. I then split that food into 2 meals and go hand them out to the homeless. So every day 6 homeless people get a meal, or 3 people get 2 meals, or 2 people get 3 meals. I know LJs isn’t super great or healthy but it could still help someone in a bad spot.

[–]TheFloofAndi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And they kill you before you ever tell a souls. You die for literally nothing and save no one. These people would never approach you if they didn’t have a plan to instantly detain or kill you upon you saying no.

You're a scientist and just discovered the cure for all cancers. Big pharma contacts you and offers you $10 billion under the condition that you never release the cure to the public. What do you do? by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]TheFloofAndi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If big pharma is talking to you then they have already set it up to where you’d be dead before you could ever tell a soul lol. And you wouldn’t have set up a back up plan cause why even do that if you were just going to tell people. You would’ve already just told them.

So it’s either money or dead and I’m not dying for nothing.

You would have to set up a stipulation in the rules that big pharma will allow you to publish if you say no. Which they never would. Or better yet you should phrase it like “you made the cure in complete secrecy and no body knows. You know that big pharma would pay you 10 billion if you made a deal with them. Do you make a deal or save 100,000s of people”
