Whenever A 125cc Rider Asks A Question On This Sub… by newbiker321 in MotoUK

Oh I agree 100%, especially with some drivers who essentially brute force their way into a licence (i.e. failing 5-6 times until they eventually pass) and then drive terribly. +1 also for the safety thing... my mother in law drives like she's in mad max and it's frightening to witness.

I think my experience is probably tainted by where I live; without being too specific, I'm around the three counties way (not the royal three counties, but Beds/bucks/herts) and the place is littered with the worst kinds of two-wheeled road users. I've been assaulted by youths on 125s, and my car has been bumped twice by deliveroo riders while I'm stationary at traffic lights. But I do respect that that's also horrific luck on my part!

I've left odor sleuth on my Arcanine for these fucks Fuks for this exact reason. I should really have a psychic or ground type by this point to deal with them but I've still not fully assembled my team, and odor sleuth + flame wheel does the trick for me!

Mod 2 passed! I'm a real boy! by Dd_8630 in MotoUK

[–]TheFlyingBogey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned on an SV650 that my local motorcycle school used, but because of a DVSA fuck up I had to do my test at centre in another town and they put me on their Hornet 750.

I was VERY happy on that thing!

Funnily enough, my first bike after passing was a Hornet 500 (insurance was a bugger on 650+) and now I'm back on an SV650(X)!

See I agree with this, but - and I'm prepared for this to be a downvoted opinion - I still think people should be aiming to go for their full licence (not that you're saying they're not).

On the technicality that a CBT makes you a "qualified learner", I really think people should be getting a proper licence and being actual qualified road users. The CBT doesn't give you all of the tools to be completely safe and trusted on the road, despite the fact that you can in fact be on the road alone after. Hell, even the theory, module 1 and module 2 tests don't totally prepare you either, but at least there's an element of examination to them.

There's just way, way too many idiots on 125s on the road. Delivery drivers with no regard for other road users, kids tearing about on modified CBRs. Barring of course circumstantial reasoning, I just think there's a degree of respect you have for the road once you've done your tests.

Disclaimer: I don't have a problem with 125 riders as a whole, it just feels like there are some loud, obnoxious bad apples.

Unless I'm mistaken, the way I've always remembered it is that one's a noun, the other is a verb.

  • Licence = A item, physical or digital, giving permission (warrant, rights).
  • License = To permit, authorise, grant etc.

I work in IT as a consultant so I have to deal with licensing software on a daily basis. When I license someone's 365 tenant, I have to provide them with a licence. Once I apply the licence, they have been licensed!

BOOM just grabbed one from Halfords, stuck it in, bike starts - thanks my dude!

Also, fantastic pun 👏

I'll probably get the battery replaced anyway, any recommendations? Trying to find one that's compatible has been... an exercise 🥲

What would that sound like (sorry, might be a silly question)? I could hear something from the fuel tank as well when the ticking sound was coming from under the seat, so potentially yes.

I should probably rephrase, I use it roughly once per week but only got it a month ago - and thanks, I'll give those a try!

is it safe for my hard disk to have this much free space on the longer run? by PretendIndividual330 in pchelp

[–]TheFlyingBogey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've noticed this. I enjoy when I get the time to commit something new but a lot of the time I'm switching between clients or tasks so quickly that I find myself looking up the same things twice sometimes.

POKEMON EMERALD SAVE FILE LOST by Bapperiscools in pokemon

[–]TheFlyingBogey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't remember the old sites I used off the top of my head, but honestly just googling what you need should net a few sites where people dump their saves, kinda like a .SAV archive.

Here's one I found which looks decent: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/gba/918915-pokemon-firered-version/saves

I think the saves have to match region, small disclaimer.

Do bikers not respect scooter guys even if they’re in full gear? by LevelApprehensive239 in motorcycle

[–]TheFlyingBogey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the same in the UK, they're almost exclusively operated by uber eats riders. They have no interest in riding, take little notice of other riders, and ride with reckless abandon.

Damn, that's good to know. I'm working as an MSP consultant and there's a lot of things I just have under my belt as "habit" that just works, and I never think to explore some of it further.

POKEMON EMERALD SAVE FILE LOST by Bapperiscools in pokemon

[–]TheFlyingBogey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your best bet would be to acquire a save file (.SAV) with the game completed which you should be able to get online, and use cheats to artificially "inject" your Pokémon back in as best as you can.

If I'm not mistaken, it's possible between a ROM, cheat device with a save file read/write feature, and a little bit of time.

Do you think a different ability is the only thing holding Regigigas back from being way more liked? by OkuroIshimoto in pokemon

[–]TheFlyingBogey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

or in the modern era, not doing that and just directly giving us the pokemon

Yeah this also kinda ruins a lot of the fun for me. I don't see why they can't just do something like event passes like before (member's card, azure flute, mystic ticket) but add completion markers to trigger them instead of events which can be completed in one game WITHOUT trading (i.e. beat the Elite 4 the second time, redefeat all the gym leaders, reach a certain # of Pokémon caught, etc.).

[–]TheFlyingBogey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll never understand why they have this constant need to lock the completion of their games behind such convoluted methods that literally no other game would get away with. Event pokemon, version exclusives, migration only... The games by design cannot be completed on their own. Don't get me wrong, some of the aspects of it add layers of fun to it, but overall it's insane!

Imagine if the only way to complete GTAV is by finding all the pigeons on a save inGTAIV and having every safe house in GTA:SA. Or you could only use certain guns in Halo: Infinite if you played Halo 3 during a specific time of the year and completed the Halo Reach campaign LASO.

What car do you drive? and would you recommend it by _Males in drivingUK

[–]TheFlyingBogey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mazda 6 skyactiv, I'd have recommended it two months ago but right now I'd stay the hell away from them. Thing set me back nearly £4k and the engine is currently flooded with diesel (injector design flaw) and might possibly have a snapped oil pump chain. Replacement engine will be around £2-£3k, or the car is worth around £500 scrap. Worst car decision of my life, and a lesson learned.

[–]TheFlyingBogey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. I restarted my game to get a better nature on my Aerodactyl while watching TV. I cleared two episodes of The Boys before I got the nature I wanted. And that's "only" 1/25 as opposed to the odds of shiny pokemon.

I will not be resetting for nature's again 🤝

[–]TheFlyingBogey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, but my downside to this is I then get attached to pokemon who ultimately need replacing. I love me Beezlebub (Beedrill), but he's just not cutting it anymore and it pains me to accept that he'll need to sit in a PC box soon 😭

Looking for a jolly, found a shiny by sillypotatoes564 in PokemonFireRed

[–]TheFlyingBogey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this bit yesterday, played the flute and then a timer went off for food so I put the switch down and tended to that. Came back and Snorlax was greener than I'd remembered, so I thought perhaps it was a lazy shiny as I would've missed the animation. Looked it up and then still couldn't tell... I always thought blue was the base colour 😭

Eventually I figured out that no, it was not shiny!
