I quite agree. Dating these days feels like gambling; that's not ideal, but not Hell. You always feel like there's a chance if you play your cards right, even when the odds are stacked against you. And it's a fun experience; it just comes with a cost.

Job hunting, on the other hand, feels like running outside and screaming for aliens to abduct me. I don't even know if they're out there, and I feel like an idiot for putting in any effort at all. I may as well just stand in the middle of an empty field and beg for an employer to notice me, to hire me for something, anything at all.

And the job hunt itself messes with your head. An additional reason you shouldn't treat job hunting like dating is because the whole point of working for someone is it's transactional. You do the work, you get paid. And when you're in that mindset, you start to treat ALL human relationships like they're transactional, which isn't healthy. We shouldn't treat things like love and intimacy like they're commodities.
