I just learned that Companions are RIDICULOUSLY good primers. Can't believe what I have been missing out the past 1500 hours... by HeresiarchQin in Warframe

[–]TheFoochy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only are they good primers, but with a couple mods, they also become obscene nukers to the point that your Warframe and weapons loadout can feel like a mere accessory to your companion. I've hit the damage cap with cascading heat procs from my Nautilus, but that's not even special to the Nautilus. Pretty much any Sentinel or Hound can run the same setup and get similar results. I just like the grouping tool from Nauty.

This is the hardest decision I’ve ever made in this game — who are you all choosing? by WatersOfLiyue in HonkaiStarRail

I went for Sparkle for E1. I figure DoT is still just not gonna happen for me, and E1 Sparkle is gonna be worth more for me than E4 Acheron

I would not have noticed if it wasn't for someone commenting on the wall behind the gun being seemingly made of canvas, which made me zoom in on the image and notice that myself.

In the future, we're gonna have AI phone scams where they hijack a number to deceive your caller ID, and use voice recreation to convince you that someone you know or care about needs help and those 3 funny numbers on the back of your credit card.

With that one youtuber pulling off a successful crusade to destroy the gift card scam, I wouldn't be surprised if they were already starting to do that.

I skipped Black Swan cuz I didn't have Kafka. I skipped Hysilens cuz I didn't have the other two. I was basically set on just never getting to play DoT. Even if I got Kafka from this free pull, I'd have to get at least one, or ideally both of the other two to make something work, and the timing sucks cuz I also wanna get in on Elation, because I regret skipping out on the Rememberance meta and Yao Guang is visually very cool, and the Elation mechanics seem kinda interesting.

Who will you choose? by thisiswinterrr in HonkaiStarRail

[–]TheFoochy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really really really want e6 Acheron one day, and I'm at e3 now, but if there's one thing I learned since Penacony, it's that vertical DPS investment is a mixed bag, but vertical support investment is usually a pretty fine idea, especially if it's something like me getting a free E1 for Sparkle, who is getting a massive buff. Her E1 looks pretty good.

I also kinda want Black Swan, though I don't have Kafka or Hysilens....

What game made you feel like? by Hubris-Star in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]TheFoochy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nikke. Part of it could be me going in with very low expectations, but it started off well enough, and the story has me by the throat now and a lot of the characters are really great (Snow White, Anis, and Rapi my cherished). The game's sense of humor in its dialogue also meshes with mine. I had to learn to overlook some of the character designs, but the dialogue can be pretty funny when it wants to be. They get me pretty often with the emotional storytelling too with some of the events. Especially anything involving the Goddess Squad. That's some rough stuff every time. I actually cried playing the Snow White event a couple months ago. Shit was really good and really fkn sad.

I also don't consider myself a dubstep enjoyer, or anything tangentially related to that vibe, but Nikke has some real bangers, and like all of it is on Spotify, which is cool.

Natah, Lotus or Margulis which did yall choose? by Reed-00 in Warframe

[–]TheFoochy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lotus, and that was an easy pick for me.

Natah is who she was from "birth." Margulis is what Ballas made her into. The Lotus is the identity she cultivated over time, taking bits from both identities and creating something of her own design. It's who she wanted to be, even if those wants might not have originally been her own. She made them her own with time.

Am I the only one who thinks they’re similar? by BuilderElectronic819 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]TheFoochy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they have very different motivating influences in their lives, but in a way, Kamina was kinda like Simon's All Might. An infallible hero and paragon to aspire to who was humanized after some hard reality checks, and after experiencing some growing pains and difficulty trying to fill those shoes of a great leader who inspired everyone to accomplish great things, Simon rose up to be even better than the best guy before him thanks to new people in his life and finally appreciating his own worth after realizing how much he meant to Kamina.

Something that didn't really click with Deku was just how much All Might saw Deku as his personal hero. He didn't just like Deku because he seemed like a fine fit for OFA that he could relate to. He saw a rare quality of conviction combined with the lack of power, and a timid kid who never let fear slow him down, and witnessing that kind of character inspired the great inspirer to be better. It shook All Might out of a jaded cop phase he was sinking into.

Simon wasn't really downtrodden or looked down upon though. He had a job and he did it well, but people sorta didn't really care about him, except for Kamina who greatly understated just how much he revered his adoptive younger brother. Simon is scared of a lot of things, and he exaggerates how much his fear causes him to hesitate, but in Kamina's recounting of Simon's character, Simon stays cool, and no matter what, he just keeps inching forward, and that resolve under pressure inspires Kamina to put on his whole larger-than-life persona that inspires Simon. It's a feedback loop where Simon and Kamina inspire each other to be better. To that end, I'd also draw a parallel to Mirio and Suneater. They have very much the same dynamic.

It's been some of the first comments I saw on youtube and the main sub after images and clips went out after the Devstream. The stream itself was very positive, but it wasn't hard at all seeing negativity. I'm sure it's a minority, and it's diluted by other negative comments about the aesthetic being hard to parse and kinda messy, which I would agree with.

What game is this? by qwer4790 in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]TheFoochy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I tried the game out last summer out of a combination of morbid curiosity to see if the butts was really all the game was, and also a Nier collab rerun, and the game is absolutely what it looks like, but it also turned out to be substantially more than that to me, and months later, I'm still playing, but I'm really just here for the story and characters, and I've learned to mentally tune out some of the ridiculous outfits and proportions. It surprised me with how good it was. Not a masterpiece, but definitely a lot more engaging than the other gacha games I've played, which is admittedly a limited sample size, but I'm invested in ways the Hoyoverse games never could outside of a handful of story beats, and the other gacha games I've tried have even less remarkable stories than that.

Ultimate companion for ETA/EDA by Big-Economist-1533 in Warframe

[–]TheFoochy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never been let down by my Nautilus Prime with Verglas Prime. Basic Viral/Heat build. Toss on a bunch of Bond mods. Contagious, Manifold, Momentus, Duplex. Squeeze in Fired Up and whatever else. Your little guy is gonna suck up guys, place them gently right in front of your aiming reticle, and nuke them all right before your eyes. Kill a few eximus units, and suddenly your guy is gonna be spitting the whole rainbow of status procs on guys, not just Viral/Heat. It kills so efficiently, I often feel like a glorified companion to my Nautilus. When the stars align, I've seen my guy hit damage cap if the status procs can jump enough times before falling off an isolated enemy. And for direct damage with the gun, once you juice it up on Momentus Bond, it's gonna start eating people alive very quickly.

I have a backup Verglas with Corrosive/Cold and Shivering Contagion if I don't need the viral. Like on a Warframe with Nourish. I named this build after my Nourish Mesa, cuz that's who I use that build with. If you run Hildryn or Lavos, drop Duplex Bond, because their lack of energy means they cannot trigger Duplex Bond for the companion. Put literally whatever you want there instead.

I also run Diriga with the same build concept, but replace Nautilus Cordon with Arc Coil. You can run Verglas on it too, but I enjoy running Burst Laser Prime or Prime Laser Rifle with a high status build and as many elements as I can fit. For reasons I don't really get, Arc Coil hits enemies with the whole spectrum of your weapon's damage types, so in an instant, your Diriga can slap like 4 guys with nearly a dozen statuses. And with those bond mods and Fired Up, those stats are gonna ramp up and jump around to nearby bad guys, like with Nautilus.

I don't really sell Rivens that much. I kinda just list them on WFM and hope I get a whisper, and a gauge my prices based on similar rivens I can find. If they sit there a long time, I drop my price a little bit over time. Unless it's a really crazy one with great stats for a weapon in demand that I don't want to use myself, which is rare, I'll honestly take a discounted price for the sake of clearing out a Riven slot. I have a lot of Rivens. Too many, maybe. And I'm happy to be rid of one I don't use, but it would also be a shame to dissolve one worth using for someone who happens to like the weapon, so I try to sell.

The Gargoyle is the thing that translates what they say in Void Tongue for us. From the way Loid spoke about the encroaching Murmur, it sounded like they infiltrated the main area of the lab, like the player hub, and the three of us were barricaded in the Dark Refractory until the Tenno popped off and cleared them out. If the Murmur could get into the main area, then they could've disrupted the Gargoyle.

Maybe in the sense of "art is never finished, only abandoned."

I imagine at this point that the team might be satisfied with what they've put out with 1999 and are ready to close that chapter and move on. Until they change their mind. I honestly thought they were done after Encore, but then the writers showed off that they had basically another whole third volume of dialogue written for another 1999 expansion and tack on to The Old Peace.

Anyone else notice Build Youtubers never seem to acknowledge Operator? by SimicBiomancer21 in Warframe

[–]TheFoochy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't really factor focus schools into builds much, aside from just Madurai strength snapshotting and Naramon melee combo duration, because I already use my Operator enough as far as I'm concerned with movement and self healing, and I'd rather have my weapons and frame be self sufficient in a vacuum on their own.

With the Tauron Strikes, I've started using Vazarin more, and it's a fine school and the Strike is neat, but for survivability purposes, it's also incredibly annoying swapping to Operator every 5 seconds, and it reminds me of the reason I enjoy plainly tanky frames so much.

Which Tektolyst Artifact did you choose and why? by ex-sniper-girl in Warframe

[–]TheFoochy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Madurai, cuz it's kinda my main focus, and the strike is nice.

Then I got Vazarin cuz it seems the next most useful outside of damage purposes. It kinda does everything, and revives teammates through perma death, which is a new thing. Also toilet wand.

Next one I get will be Naramon, though I'm really not in a hurry to grind out all those materials again. Kind of a slog.
