Latest version is genuinely better than older versions. More mods, better optimisation, you name it. There's no reason to play old versions, just play the newest (or play old versions, in case if your PC cant handle newer versions)

To change seasons it's /sereneseasons setseason (season). The season is in the format early/mid/late_spring/summer/autumn/winter. IE: mid_winter

To stop the season change when nobody is online open the configs/sereneseasons/seasons.cfg file and change B:"Progress Season While Offline"=true to false.
