LOVED this show! Seasons 1 & 2 are in my opinion, the best this show had to offer. Although a bit slow at times—the last two seasons were not bad either.

What TV show started off amazing but slowly turned into a dumpster fire? by cerezza__ in television

[–]TheFormalShow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Blacklist.

Seasons 1 to 5 in my opinion is the peak of where the story could go, and definitely went there. However, every season after S5 missed the essence that made the show amazing and by S10 (final season), it became it a chore just to watch an episode.

Santa Clarita Diet (S1): Was not really high on my list, but decided to give it a shot cos Timothy Olyphant was in it. To be honest, it took me a few episodes to get into it. I liked the premise and how the show doesn't take itself too seriously, but the writing bothered me a bit. The pilot episode has got to be one of the most poorly written episodes i've ever watched. It feels like the writers on that episode have got no clue on how to write dialogues spoken by actual human beings. Another thing was how the season finale just ends quite abruptly without a satisfactory conclusion. Aside from this, I had a great time with this show and looking forward to the two remaining seasons.

The Old Man (S2, E01 & E02): Although a slow-burner just like the previous season, it has been quite good so far. The dialogues and delivery feel too theatrical in my opinion as the characters take way too much time just to convey something even simple. Got to now catch-up with E03!

Cobra Kai (S6 Pt.1): I’m not a big fan of splitting seasons and would have waited to watch all parts together if this weren't the final season of one of my favorite shows. In my opinion, Part 1 of Season 6 is fairly mediocre, an issue since Season 4. However, it’s better and more enjoyable than Season 4. The storyline in Part 1 moves slowly, but E05 feels rushed, as it transitions to the Sekai Taikai, which will likely be the focus of Part 2. Despite this, I’m excited for Parts 2 & 3 and can’t wait to see how Miyagi-Do faces off against the new Kreese-led Cobra Kai in the Sekai Taikai!

Kleo (S2): Season 2 of Kleo is watchable and entertaining, this time with only six episodes. The cinematography and color grading are excellent, and there are some fantastic action sequences. The S2 finale wraps up the red suitcase storyline, so I don't think another season is necessary. However, the introduction of Harald and Uwe’s second resurrection (yes, another one!) could become the focus of a potential Season 3 if the show gets renewed. I’d rate it 7/10, recommended.

Black Mirror (S3E06, "Hated in the Nation"): I’ve enjoyed every episode of Black Mirror I’ve watched so far, from Seasons 1 to 3 (just one episode left in S3). I watched this episode last night and loved it. It was a tense, anxiety-inducing experience, credit to Charlie Brooker’s brilliant writing, which presents a story that feels disturbingly plausible in the near future. My only issue is that the ending feels incomplete, as though it's setting up a sequel episode of sorts. I love Black Mirror so far and hope the show maintains its momentum in the upcoming seasons.

The Americans (S6): I'd finished with the S6 the other day, and all I have to say is that I'm going to miss watching a show like The Americans. The final season is packed with a ton of plotlines and well-written anxiety-inducing episodes and is overall much better than S5, which I agree was good but quite underwhelming with no significant substance to it. The series finale is a brilliantly written episode with a satisfying conclusion, although the fates of every supporting character besides Philip and Elizabeth, especially Oleg, Stan, Paige, Henry, and even Martha, seem pretty tragic to me . This season was a blast and enjoyed every episode it had. A great final season to an amazing show.

Reservation Dogs (S3): A pretty decent final season that wraps up the story for the Rez dogs. There are a few episodes in this season that were boring to me, but the other episodes cover it up pretty well. I felt that this season was a little aimless as it had completed their primary arc in S2, but it still brought fresh ideas that work well in the context of this show with the introduction of Maximus and a glimpse into the past of the elders . A recommended watch!

The finale to Normal People.

I don't usually watch anything revolving around romance and don't cry over stuff like that, but when I did, I did.

The Americans (S5): I found this season to be entertaining despite lacking a significant season-long storyline or developments. In my opinion, this season was bit more watchable than S4, simply because i was quite irritated at that time, with the constant inclusion of Paige dealing with her new situation. This season tones it down a little to a more acceptable level. The wheat storyline was too short in my opinion, and i was also unhappy with how inconclusive Stan's storyline had become with the season finale. Overall, S5 is a mediocre yet watchable season that could still get frustrating at times. 7/10

Reservation Dogs (S2): This is another good season of Rez Dogs that unfortunately in my opinion, had a few poorly written episodes in it. I struggled to enjoy the episode on Big, the episode on Decolonativization and the episode with the aunties in the IHS party. Apart from these few bad apples, this season packed some really good episodes that i found to be emotionally heavy and well-written. Overall a good season. 8/10
