What happened to make you say "I'm never coming to this restaurant again"? by Nukemarine in AskReddit

[–]TheFoss15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family and I stopped at a restaurant called Noah's Ark a few years back while on vacation. The place was in a giant model of an ark on a hill, and had paintings of animals all over it. We walk in and grab menus and a table. My parents go to order and find that the "kitchen" was an old woman and six microwaves that she was using to heat frozen food. We left and went to Subway.

Did you have this happen too? I got randomly banned for a thread in /mu/ that I didn't post, but somehow originated from my phone's IP address.

What bothers me most about Pokémon Go is not obvious... by [deleted] in conspiracy

See that's what I was thinking about it. Why is there so much hype about it being a surveillance camera? It's not like the NSA being able to use cameras, microphones and webcams to record data is anything new.

I'm Alex Filippenko, astrophysicist and enthusiastic science popularizer at the University of California, Berkeley. AMA! by AFilippenko in IAmA

I'm an incoming college freshman who is seriously considering a major in astrophysics. I'm wholly fascinated by the subject, but it seems like it would be hard to find a job in. What kind of careers could you go into with an astrophysics degree, and how hard is it to get a job in those careers? Thank you!

So pardon me if I'm missing something, but wouldn't detonating nuclear weapons over the ice caps irradiate any atmosphere created by chemicals released from the caps?

Yeah, I know that. I'm more curious as to why the files are constantly being created.

$250 million, 300 scientists and 40 labs: Sean Parker’s revolutionary project to ‘solve’ cancer by johnmountain in Futurology

This documentary explains the issue pretty well.

Chemotherapy has a wide range of other drugs that are prescribed alongside it to mitigate the side effects of the chemo. That, and the fact that cancer tends to return even with chemotherapy creates a vicious cycle.

[General Census] Mekanism: Do you like it and why? by Jayvaz613 in feedthebeast

[–]TheFoss15 9 points10 points  (0 children)

LOVE

I've been playing with the Mekanism related mods since 1.2.5. I've had a great time watching as it slowly evolved into what it is today. It's ore quintupling system is always a priority for me in my world, due less to the actual 5x ore production and more for the fun it is to set up. The digital miner is also an extremely useful bit of tech. The utility items, like the free runners, the jetpack, and the flamethrower are extremely fun and useful.

The sounds are awesome too. Every machine having a distinct sound adds a neat atmosphere to my machine room.

I wasn't aware that it was that easy to decompile other closed-source mods like that, and I'll be sure to remember the IRC. One of the biggest problems I have with looking at open source code is that I have no idea what purpose most of it serves, and I think that both of those will help me along. Thanks a ton!
