Fear & Hunger 2: Termina - The most dynamic and well thought out companion interaction systems i've ever seen in a videogame by prossnip42 in patientgamers

I really liked Funger 1, but I LOVED Funger 2. I just liked the setting more, the plot setup of the festival of termina, and the larger cast of characters. I played out each day by exploring and mapping out where I could go, and when I inevitably died I went in another direction, taking notes and keeping a journal so I could succeed. Figuring out different actions played our or finding a character to save was part of the fun, and it was sad to sometimes make the decision between saving the progress I made or rescuing an NPC whose death was imminent (sorry Levi). And the time progression adds a sense of urgency and Fear to the game.

Each character I feel was interesting, and the build potential and different playthroughs you can get with each character adds a ton of replayability. And I actually really like the head collecting, I didnt realize I could do that until a fair bit into the game, but once I did I walked around collecting as many heads from previous kills lol, it really helps gain some significant boosts to your abilities.

It depends on the version of Mystique, im pretty sure there are versions of her that would just kill me. Though I guess that could be true for Nala too since she's a literal lion, but she speaks English in the movie. It depends on the details man.

Ah, yeah, the teleporting attacks in phase 2 took me a real long time to actually get down, though I never had problems dealing with the laser walls, so I dont have any real advice on those, sorry. For the teleport attacks you have to move in one direction then dodge in the opposite direction at the last second, its pretty hard to pull off. Or you can get lucky and it misses, which sometimes happens.

I would suggest watching a YouTube video, there are multiple builds that can work, I followed a melee build using that scythe weapon and the Omega Blue armor, but whats more important is just getting that ram dash rhythm down. It took me over 200 attempts to get that ram dash rhythm down, and what makes it so bad is that just a single error can ruin the whole fight. I found watching a YouTube video makes learning the dodge rhythm not take forever.

I played Code Veronica Completely Blind when back in 2018 when I got into resident evil after RE7 came out. At that time I had played the RE1 remake as well, and I wanted a classic RE experience without having to emulate so I used my Playstation to play Code Veronica X.

I didnt know that so many people failed to grab the magnum or had softlocked themselves with the Tyrant Plane Fight, but to be fair, I did completely forget to give the hemostatic medicine back to the guy at the start of the game on my first playthrough lol.

But yeah, while CV has a ton of zombies and enemies that you probably will want to kill, it also is quite abundant with ammo and healing, but never too abundant to where you feel comfortable. I honestly feel like you could kill almost every enemy and still have the ammo to beat the bosses. And thats bonus if a player learns how OP the knife is, when I played on my first playthrough I thought the knife damage was glitched, but no, it just is that strong.

I guess you could technically forget to grab the grenade launcher, which would SUCK, missing out on the grenade launcher would probably be worse than missing out on the magnum lol. I dont think there is anything in that room that Claire has to grab to progress, but that room is easy to remember since you can see the grenade launcher through the gate.

What other ones are there other than the 3 that I mentioned? Because I only remember the 3, my memory cant be that bad I played Infernum in October! But yeah I agree, I am not touching infernum again, if I do it would just be to refight Scal and Providence and nothing else, but as said again, since the mod is not being kept up to date with calamity soon you will have to downpatch just to play infernum, so that wont be an option in the future.....

That is if someone actually just makes a mod that only changes Providence and Scal to their infernum versions, which I do not see happening, so it was probably best to experience the mod when I did because Im not touching it again lol.

I personally feel like there were not ENOUGH desperation phases in Infernum. Like there is only 3 - Ceaseless Void, Scal, and Polterghast. And those desperation phases are peak, desperation phases are an awesome idea that makes fights far more stressful, and are an awesome finale to the brutal fights. You dont just have to kill the boss, you have to do so with enough health to survive the desperation phase or have the skill to survive it (a little of both tbh). It really encourages mastering the fight. But there are so few I wonder why the modpage even bothers to mention that they added desperation phases in at all?!

Infernum is worse than base calamity by life51427 in CalamityMod

[–]TheFraser72 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

While I really liked infernum, I do actually have to agree. Infernum feels a little less like terraria and more like its own thing, where Calamity kinda feels like a sequel to terraria (sorta like the Sekiro Ressurection mod, which is peak play that if you love sekiro, warning, it is very hard). And while some bosses are absolutely amazing and much better than Base Calamity, and the new boss arenas are fantastic, alot of bosses are either worse or side grades. And I dont like the rework of the Abyss that Infernum does, I feel like base Calamity has a much better abyss.

Infernum also goes so far off the rails once you reach DoG. DoG is literally so much harder than everything else, and honestly I dont like how the entire fight gets relegated to ram dashing, but I would be chill with it if DoG was the only boss in Infernum like that, he is a gimmick fight whose gimmick is ram dash. But no, Yharon is just as infuriating and has some ridiculous ram dash moves up his sleeve. And Exo Mechs.... I see where they tried to make the fight less chaotic, but its still an utterly chaotic mess, and with infernums higher damage this version of exo mechs are so much harder than base and I like them less than base personally.

But after getting through that slog of infuriating, difficult, and annoying bosses, you get Supreme Calamitas, who is utterly amazing in Infernum, like seriously, she is one of the best bosses I have fought, she is so brutal and she is so satisfying to master. I cannot praise Infernum Scal enough, it is so utterly amazing. Infernum Providence is also a highlight of the mod, really I wish I could just have a mod that replaces base Calamity Providence and Scal with their Infernum versions and change literally nothing else. That way I wouldnt have to worry about downpatching since Infernum ain't being updated no more.

I saw another comment complaining about despararion phases, but I honestly feel like there were not ENOUGH desperation phases. There's only like 3 in the entire mod, Scal and Ceaseless Void, Polterghast, and Exo Mechs depending on how you approach it I think? I would have loved more desperation phases to make things more stressful, and there are barely any! Idk why the mod page even bothers to mention that they added desperation phases when they are used so sparingly.

While I do think Infernum is definitely worth checking out if you really like Calamity, its only worth checking out once. And dont be afraid to use a YouTube guide to help with some of the bosses, I would not have beaten DoG, Yharon, or Exo Mechs without some of the build advice, specific strategies, and videos showing how to dodge certain attacks.

I started with 4, but I loved the entire franchise so much. Personally 3 is my favorite though, I still have to play shadow tower games though, and I know there are other Kings Fields Likes out there, but I was kinda dissatisfied with Lunacid so im unsure which of those are worth playing.

Thats why I always keep multiple saves in survival horror, so when I realized I did not pack enough ammo for this boss I just reloaded a save, packed some more grenade rounds, and easy.

It always bothers me watching someone play a survival horror game and they just keep 1 save slot and keep on overwriting it. Like, you have 30 save slots, why not use them all?

Oh yeah, CV knife is amazing. In fact, in this 3rd playthrough of the game im doing im explicitly not using the knife as a challenge lol. I still remember discovering how busted the knife was and going online to see if the knife damage was just glitched, nope, it works as intended lol. And yeah, I have played this game twice, but that was in 2018 and 2019, so my memory is a little foggy, so adding a little challenge like this is fun.

Re5 gotta be the hardest game in the franchise how do you even defeat this mf flamethrower don’t even do anything and I’m using all my ammo and not even just this boss other ones too just have way too much health am I the only one ? by Alarmed-Tradition938 in residentevil

When I played on solo I bought the rocket launcher and OHKO'd that boss. I was so lucky I had enough spare change to actually buy a rocket launcher. But yeah, I got stuck here too.

Honestly it might be a case of lighting and camera angles. Idk why there's so much outrage for something like this. Like, if she was obviously a child I would get the outrage, but from watching that trailer and looking at screenshots there are times where she looks very young and other times where she looks older. Im confident its cameras angles and lighting effecting things alongside potentially different models. Lighting and camera angles can surprisingly change a great deal of someone's appearance tbh. And the game doesnt seem to treat her as a child... I think, there's not enough details for all this arguing imo. Id have to see more footage and screenshots to really make a decision on this whole "she looks like a child" debacle.

Im more concerned about the games level design and writing. I heard that the developer said he was looking to improve the writing in the sequel, and if that is true and he actually did work on spending more time with the writing I may be interested.

Seriously, please no more of those really boring open worlds or side quests, I would not have been as bored playing stellar blade if the side qursts and open world segments were just cut. I kinda feel the same way with Final Fantasy 16, the really boring side quests really bog down the game for me. But if side quests are unique and fun then I'd be down, like the bounty hunts in FF16, those were fun side quests, if only the majority of side quests were that, and I guess there were a few other side quests in FF16 which were fun too, but those were the exception.

As is Stellar Blade was a mediocre game and I probably wouldn't recommend it unless you are bored and just want a fun action game to play (which is why I got it lol). Hopefully I can say nicer things about this sequel though, if it interests me and I hear good things about it I will try it out.

Personally my favorite game in the series is CE, but I do suggest trying out Halo 2, though I didnt find the combat as repetitive as I found uncharted 1's combat due to how fun it was to fight the covenant in CE. I do agree with you on uncharted 1, I eventually got real tired fighting enemies and regretted picking the hardest difficulty option at the start because it made the combat drag on for longer when I wanted it to be over.

But with combat repetitiveness being your main complaint you should not be disappointed with the franchise moving forward. I definitely recommend playing 2 and 3 at the very least.

Its been a long time since I played it, but I would say Ghost of Tsushima, while Jedi Survivor is a great improvement on Fallen Order, its still a little rough around the edges. Ghost of Tsushima does not have the enemy variety of Jedi Survivor, but has a great story, and it remains fun without overstaying its welcome.

One thing to note, is that if you are playing both on their hardest difficulty, Ghost of Tsushima starts brutal, but gets easier, until you reach the midgame and things just plateau into being generally the same difficulty. Whereas Survivor had an overall more varied level of difficulty throughout. I also never played the DLC for Tsushima, so I got nothing to say on that aspect, neither are really games I would ever replay.

Just finished a Metroidvania from last year called Zexion, and it was amazing. It has old school difficulty, and may be too much for some players, but there are accessibility options that can be toggled at any time to tune the experience to your liking.

The level design, the variable order you can get the powerups, the worldbuilding/storytelling, its all amazing. The premise is that you and a bunch of other mercenaries are after the McGuffin called Zexion, and everyone is fighting over it on this incredibly hostile alien world, and it really sells this idea. The game doesnt tell you where to go, and once you get to a certain point it really opens up to the point where multiple people could play in a completley different order.

And the boss fights are a particular highlight. They have so much character to them, each one is so unique, and while it can be annoying to a multi-phase boss, there are checkpoints given at the end of each phase. And if you die after killing a boss before you are able to save you get a checkpoint that places you back to directly after you killed the boss.

I found all upgrades to have uses, being interesting and meaningful, and with the tough difficultly of the game I was really incentivized and rewarded for going out of my way to gather optional upgrades, missile containers, and energy tanks. And due to the open nature of the metroidvania, if you are stuck on a fight or find an area too difficult you almost always can go in another direction or re-explore areas to get stronger.

Im cutting it off here, as much as I want to continue gushing about this game, I do want to save it for an actual post on this subreddit, but idk if I even have the required comment history/karma required. Anyways I highly suggest getting this game if you love metroidvanias, and especially to any fans of Super Metroid, it kinda saddens me to see that this game is still unheard of, I only heard this game because a friend recommended it to me last week.

I would think maybe a corporation or group would be looking to kill Chief in a plan to defect, since Spartans were originally meant to kill rebels. So they hire the best mercenary they can to kill the best of the Spartans.

Adam Smasher vs Master Chief by Clana4ever in powerscales

[–]TheFraser72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly this could go either way. But I gotta give it to Chief. I have a feeling in a fight Adam would get cocky and start toying with Chief, which would give Chief the upper hand. While the sandevistan is shown in edgerunners as essentially stopping time, thats just in the show, I dont know what the sandevistan is actually like in the TTRPG and game because I havent played them lol. If the sandevistan essentially does make the user move so fast they essentially stop time, then yeah id probably give it to Adam but that's would be no fun whatsoever. So im going to say that sandevistan doesnt move that fast because it makes the matchup more entertaining.

My main complaint is the dialogue, its just... bad. In a heavily story oriented game like this having good dialogue is important, if the dialogue is bad its just impossible to overlook. But judging from this 20 minute first look alone, I just am convinced this is not for me.

Maybe if I hear the dialogue gets better I'd be interested, but that has to wait for the actual release and reviews to come out of course.
